And the countdown is on…

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Well, I have officially started my countdown! My replacements should be here in a week and then I will have a week or so to right seat, left seat with them so I don’t leave them hanging out in the wind. It shouldn’t be an issue, they are an active duty unit and I am assuming most of them have deployed before.

We are going to have one hella first night back…a bunch of us are going out the first night we get back to the states. We will be drunk, dancing naked on the tables! Hahahahaha! Then I will fly back to PA and party with my friends there to celebrate (I will attempt to keep my clothes on…hahahaha)! Once those two things happen, I will get my fat ass into the gym and gel my diet and workouts.

I also found out that I got PCS orders and I am supposed to report in March. Well hopefully by then, my packet will go through and I will be training for my new MOS! I have a ton on my plate once I get home, but I will prioritize everything and I have complete confidence it will all work out in the end!

I am having short timers syndrome, so I have been slacking off slightly in the gym…plus I have been trying to fight a killer head cold! I can’t remember the last time a cold kicked my ass like this! I am trying to work through it, but I have absolutely no energy!

Okay enough of this…I got to get some sleep! My head is throbbing and I am starting to whine!

 Unitl later…Jay

Keeping a happy face

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Well, the time is drawing nearer to my redeploying. Generally speaking, I am very happy. I am also scared. I have to go home and deal with a lot of things that I was able to not deal with for a long time. Some of you know exactly what I am talking about. More than that, I have to deal with the change of not being deployed. See for the past year, I had really only one focus…making sure I do what I need to do to make sure my soldiers and myself make it home in the same condition as before we deployed.

I have noticed a change in me…slightly more irritable, sleep issues, lack of desire to kick my ass in the gym. It is really bizarre. My emotions are right on the edge all of the time. It hasn’t helped that we have lost soldiers in the past recently. They were not in my unit, but the feeling of loss is still the same…they are all my brothers and sisters. We have done and seen some things during this deployment that I am happy to remember and some that I do not wish to remember. I am sorry, I feel like I am whining…I’ll stop.

Let’s talk about working out! Like I have said before, I am having issues focusing and finding the desire to go and work out. It also doesn’t help that I apparently have a rotator cup issue in my left shoulder. I have been putting off getting it looked at, because I don’t want to get sent somewhere to get the tests done. I need to be here with my guys. So, I drop the weight and grin my way through my workout. I look forward to Bi day, because it doesn’t hurt so bad…lol!

Well again, I really didn’t mean to sound like a whinny little b**ch, I was just feeling a little down and wanted to put it on paper in the hopes it will help my mood.

Until later…Jay

I can’t wait to share this with ya’ll

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Okay, I met this dude and he introduced me to a new workout! It is freakin’ killer…unfortunately as of this moment, I only have information on Chest day. Ya’ll will love this…

Start out with Flat bench DB presses (as heavy as you can) do as many as you can until you can’t do anymore. Immediately pick up 1/2 the weight DB’s and do as many flys as you can. That is one set! Do three sets. Next, go to the incline bench and put on as heavy as you dare and do as many as you can, pick up 1/2 DB’s and do as many DB presses as you can. Pick up a 45 plate (or whatever floats your boat) and press that as many times as you can and then go right to a Incline pushup and do as many as those as you can. That is one set! Do three sets. Next, go to do cable crossovers. Pick a starting weight and go until you can’t, drop it down one plate and keep that up until you are out of plates. That is one set. Do three sets.

If the gym is not to terribly busy, you can knock this out in about 45 minutes and OMG, the burn is incredible. As soon as I know what we do for the other body parts, I will post it in a blog. This is freakin’ amazing…keeps the heart rate up and you are getting a killer workout! It is awesome, let me know what you think.

Gotta read…so freakin’ funny!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

First I got to give ya’ll a little background. A good friend of mine works in the Post Office here on my FOB and when I am not going out on missions and I have some down time, I go down and help those guys out (makes the time go by when you stay busy). Anyway, I am down there today and I pick up this box that is vibrating and leaking. Looked at the label and nothing on the label gave any indication that there was anything in there that should be vibrating and/or leaking. So, according to the Post Office SOP, we have to call EOD. They call them and tell them there is a suspicious package…

EOD shows up, sets up the x-ray machine, then decides that they will just open it. So they clear everyone out and proceed to open the package. In the meantime, we were all betting what it was that was vibrating and leaking. The EOD guys guessed in was hair clippers, someone else guessed it was a personal recreational device, someone else said it was an electric toothbrush. Keep in mind that the package was addressed to a male Soldier. Well, they open it and start laughing like crazy…he had everyone make an official guess. They all guessed the items above and when they asked me, I said it was a personal recreational device made for a male (vibrating pocket p****y).

Yes, I was correct…it was freakin’ hilarious! The leaking substance was lubricant. The EOD guys took pictures with the "suspicious package" contents. OMG, we all freakin’ cracked up! So, the EOD guys had to sign the package that it was opened. He wrote, "Opened by ******, EOD on 09 JUL 09…NICE!"

See over here, when under stress most of the time, it is a great day when something happens that makes us all laugh! We decided that his wife was awesome! Sorry, I had to share this with ya’ll, because it was a very funny thing in a not so funny place.

Until later…Jay

totally random post…

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Okay, this is going to be a shockier for all…are ya’ll sitting down? This post will have nothing to do with my personal drama or working out! Okay, I’ll wait until ya’ll are concious again…[pause for dramatic affect]…ready?

I have decided that I am FINALLY old enough to get my first tat! I have someone drawing up for me right now and I will get it as soon as I come home! Ya’ll know the prayer hands right? Good, now imagine them open. Inside I am going to put my Dad’s initials (maybe even his name, not really sure). That is my vision, I left the rest of the creativity to the person who is drawing it up…it’s going to be so hot! I can’t wait.

Okay, now the honesty comes out…I am scared. I am sure it is going to hurt like hell (I’m getting it in the middle of my upper back). I have no doubt that I will whine and whimper like a little girl. Anyone want to come and hold my hand during this process? LMAO!

Okay, sorry I lied…I need to tell you about abusing myself in the gym today. I did Chest this afternoon. I started with 135, did 2 sets of 18, added 50 pounds and did two sets of 15, added 50 pounds and did 2 sets of 10. Okay, now is the tricky part, my buddy is not as strong as me and when I added another 50 to do 2 sets of 6, he was having a lot of trouble spotting me…it was quite funny, I felt bad for him. Then we reversed the process all the way back to the bar itself. It was so much fun. Then I had to do my DB work, that was challanging. Tonight I wanted to do tri’s, but my little crowded FOB gym was extremely full of people talking and it was easier to do my back workout. That was freakin’ awesome too. It is strange, I don’t think I am getting a lot bigger, but I am surely getting stronger. It’s cool, I’ll take that. I want to be as strong as I am big, so it’s all good. I am slowly shedding my fat…only like 85% to go!

Livin’ the Dream in Afghanistan

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Hey ya’ll, just wanted to give a quick update. I have been focusing my energies between my misisons and the gym and it is giving me some peace. I freakin’ jacked up my shoulder again…DAMNIT! I really should go get it checked out, but I am afraid it might get me sent to Germany. I’ll wait until I re-deploy and get it checked out at that point. It goes between hurting to move to my arm going completely numb. Oh well, it looks as I might have to take it easy in the gym going forward.

Okay, I will only complain about this once! I freakin’ can’t believe that the U.S. Army is going to put the pink boxer shorts into a museum! Serious? Really? We just put a couple of our brothers on a plane…We have soldiers dying over here and the Army wants to put some pink boxer shorts into a museum? What about all of his buddies boxers that they were fighting in? I am not hating on that particular soldier, I am hating on the media and Army commanders! I am considering asking to be chaptered out of the military! Makes me sick to my stomach!

Other than that, my diet is getting better. I am shedding some fat and trying to put on more muscle. I have been trying Muscletech Leukic Hardcore…I kind of dig it. I seems to assist me finishing as strong as I start. Has anyone tried the the Creakic? I tend to stay away from creatine…afraid of the bloat. I have heard that this stuff doesn’t make you bloat. Is this true? Any imput would be appreciated.

Until later…Jay
