Long overdue update

Well, it is Sunday, 29 MAR 09! I wish I could say that time is flying…but it is not. It is not dragging either, just not moving fast enough for my liking. I think it has been about a million days since I last updated my blog, so as I chill out waiting to go out on another mission, I thought I would write a brief update.

I, with the help of my chaplain and some of you, I am in a good place mentally. I have let go of some baggage that I need not carry around anymore. Regarding my life, we’ll just have to see what the future brings. I am in a position that I will be able to handle whatever comes my way. I am not afraid nor am I hiding my head in the sand. I have found that I have much more inner strength that I have given myself credit. It is high time that I start living my profile quote and get up and take control. Thank you all for your continued encouragement…

I have renewed my passion in the gym and again look forward to each day. I need to get my diet figured out, it is hard over here. I have been able to put on some size and lose fat at the same time. I am slowly starting to see changes in my physique. I will continue to improve until I DO NOT look my age! I keep my workouts consistent and change my exercises to keep my body guessing. I don’t really care how much I am able to lift, only that I keep getting bigger and stronger. I am truly tired of being “the fat old guy” and now I am set on being the “wow, he’s how old” guy.

Being deployed is nothing like I expected it to be considering my job. I didn’t think that the stress level would be as high as it is…for the most part, it is manageable, but sometimes it just kind of takes hold of you. Let’s just say I can’t wait until I go on R&R. I find that the gym assists me in lowering my stress. When in the gym, I use all of that energy and funnel it into my workouts. I have a long way to go, but as I can notice positive changes, it drives me to push even harder.

When I redeploy, I will take charge of my military career and I look forward to a bright future. I will end this as I need to go do some laundry and pack for my upcoming mission.

   Until next time…Jay
