Update 10/27/09

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I know most of you aren’t interested in what I am doing in my life. OK, OK. I am kidding. I know you all are dying to know what’s up. ;)

*AHEM* I have to let everyone know that I am a University of Phoenix graduate!  I must confess that I am not happy like I thought I would be. I guess it’s the anti-climatic nature in me. Now, that I have graduated I am looking to move into a different career. Since, I live in the real world I know I need a steady income to continue my fitness dreams. So, in order to do this I need to pursue certifications in my current field. Now, I got that out of the way. Let’s talk about my current fitness status.

Since November of 2007 I have been losing weight or "cutting". I never liked that term to much… Anyway, it’s over for now. I need to change things up. While I do believe my body has adapted, I think it’s time to put muscle on. I think most people don’t realize that you need a base to build a house. In other words, you need muscle in order to be defined. While it’s possible to build muscle during a "cutting" cycle, it’s damn hard.

From November 1st up until January 1st, 2010 I will be performing a bulk. It’s going to be nothing serious, because it will my first attempt. I do expect some mishaps along the way. I will admit that I am excited and scared. Oh, well. We shall see and I will keep you all posted.

It’s over.

My little experiment with extreme low carb is over. I have been sick, I mean really sick for the last few days. It’s hard to get better when you have to follow a 30g carb limit. I am going back to carb cycling, since I have had great results in the past.

The ending of a chapter and the beginning of a new one.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have ended my experience with the high protein /high fat and low carbohydrates. I know what you all are saying.. you did what?  kizmvp, introduced to FighterDiet.com. This web site is a ran by Pauline Nordin who is an amazing women. I suggest you all check her website out.

Anyway, her diet priniciple’s are kinda like a keto diet. However, the major difference is that you consume 5% of your body weight in low glycemic vegetables. Since, I weight 190 pounds, that would be close to 8 pounds of veggies! On your refeed day or days, is when you switch to starches and sugars. Basically a load up on carbohydrates. I have always wondered that dangerous effects of not eating anough vegetables due to being under a 30 gram carb limit and it’s long term effects.

Today after my morning cardio, i had for the first time some oatmeal and eggwhites. I was so terrified of the oatmeal that my stomach was litterly in knots. Well, it’s time to get ready for my second workout and I shall keep you all updated.

Fat Flush

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I know what you’re thinking. Antonio, what in the hell is a "fat flush"? In the ‘Total Six Pack Abs’ written by Mark McManus. The fat flush is for the that:

1. Get super-ripped in a short period of time. For example you have a photo shoot coming up in a week.

2. You need to overcome a weight-loss stall.

I am doing the fat flush for a different. That reason is because this week (12/8-12/12) will be my week off from training. I have trained very hard for the last 3 months and I need a break. I will be sticking to proper nutrition but I feel I don’t need to be consuming a load of calories if I will not be working out.

With the Fat Flush, I will only be consuming 1200 calories per day. That’s right, I said 1200. Stored body fat will be where most of my energy requirements will come from. I will aim to have at least 80% of my calories come from fat. Lets break it down:

30 grams of protein = 120 calories

30 grams of carbs = 120 calories

107 grams of fat = 963 calories

That is it.  As with anything, I will keep you all updated.

Anabolic Diet: Midweek Carb Spike

Monday, December 1st, 2008

I have been on the Anabolic Diet for the last few months and the results have been great. Now, I have included H.I.I.T running into my cardio routine 4x a week and I jump rope on Saturdays. As you can imagine by Wednesday, my glycogen stores are sapped due to the H.I.I.T running.

In the book ‘The ANABOLIC Diet’, Dr. Mauro DiPasquale talks about having a midweek carb spike to give you an extra "kick". He also notes that you can consume up to 1,000 calories in high GI foods. Ofcouse after that meal you go right back to high/fat protein/low carb diet. Dr. Mauro states, " a little jolt of carbs can be very productive as needed. It will drive amino acids into the cell and increase anabolic drive and, as long as you go back the Anabolic Diet, you’ll avoid laying on fat."

Well, that is fantastic! I will keep you all informed.

Anabolic Diet: First Carb Load

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Well today after a very long car depletion was the day I started loading up on carbs. For the last 7 days I could wait until this day. My work week was very hectic due to training at my job and I had to work double shifts. This is not counting the fact that I still worked out at midnight.

Anyway, back to the results. Well, towards the end I really started to feel… confused. It was like my mind couldn’t focus. I also has this linguring tiredness. It’s hard to explain so I won’t even try. This morning I loaded up on pancakes, eggs and bacon. I also had a big bowl of fruit.  After that meal, my head was spinning. I have never felt a rush like that! I will get a picture up a little later of me before the carb load.

This picture was taken after 13 days of carb depletion.
Carb Depletion

This is after 2 days of carb loading (Saturday and Sunday). Next time I will get a better picture. Anyway, I “gained” a total of 8 pounds after my loading and I am bloated.

Effects of 2 day carb load.
