Figure to Bikini-Progress Pix 1
Feb 6. 2012
It's time! Good morning BBers. Progress pix due today and I got inspired to write about my experiences going from Figure competitor to Bikini.
This may surprise some I grant you that! I have been training for figure competitions since '09. Since then I have gone on to national level competitions and have come to realize several things.
- It is without a doubt the most important element in training to honor what we as athletes envision as the ideal physique for ourselves.
- No matter what natural body type we may be born with always be true to what is most admirable and truly inspirational. That is the key to the driving force. Let's be true to that passion, it will never steer us wrong!
- Hold on to successes and victories. Those are well deserved and hard fought. Keep goals and achievements in mind, with new goals to move towards.
- Gotta have accountability. If you don't have accountability, it's so easy to get derailed before the journey has truly begun.
I have my first true update with my new trainer today, Mr. Kim Oddo. The accomplishments of his clients' speak for his track record. I am so thrilled to begin a new journey with new transformations and a new way to challenge myself.
I have given everything I've got into taking my competition level as a figure competitor as far as I can take it. I have also come to realize I have a certain look for myself off the stage as well as on. I read somewhere we spend the majority of our time planning for a competition like a wedding. So many details to consider...well in advance of the actual "event". I have come to realize I want to look and feel healthy, have a demeanor of excitement and exhilaration as I go through this process. I think I just got burnt out, it wasn't the working out that got to me it was the recuperation afterwards! I felt so depleted and lifeless like my entire life was centered around recuperating after lifting as heavy as I possibly could. It was taking a toil on me and I'm grateful to shift gears while I'm still super excited about the possibilities!
This just goes back to my second point. I desire to feel and look the best I possibly can both on and off the stage. I like to wear the size 2's and size 4's
not to say I couldn't wear these sizes training as a figure competitor, it's just a different look, again one that is right for "me". I truly respect and honor my figure competitor friends and know the time, effort and energy it takes! These gals makes gaining that muscle look so easy but believe me it is TONS of work and sacrifice!
I have so much more to share, I hope you will join me on this journey with any coments/questions you have. Feel free to send me a PM...happy training friends-keep on keepin' on!

Figure or Bikini?
I have competed since '09 in Figure. I've been thrilled with my experiences and seeing what will power and determination can achieve! Competing in National level competitions last year truly opened my eyes to what is attainable for me and my training.
My realizations after giving it my absolute all ....
The next level as a competitor is to gain broader shoulder caps, fuller legs and a broader back. Given my frame and physique, I'm 5'9" and 127 I'm at a point ready for change
I am not prepared to embrace a more fuller route. This is not to downplay or demean other figure competitors in their ambitions this is just not for me.
I've begun a new program to assist me with looking the best I can possibly look to potentially hit the stage again this summer in bikini. My desires are to be as happy as I can be both off and on the stage...I've found it's best to keep what is in my heart as the priority.
I hope to share my experiences as I embark on this transformation journey from Figure to Bikini. As of now I can share with you the plan is strict! I am already excited to have my lats calm down somewhat and excited about the possibility of growing some curves. I'm already thrilled with this new direction and am incredibly anxious to experience the possibilities!
Will you join me here as well? I am an active owner of this page and would love to see you here!

Crossed over!
I attended the 2011 IFBB/NPC Pittsburgh show on May 7 and competed in the Open Tall and Masters class. Wow! What an eye opener! I have never seen so many tall muscular women competing all in one time in my life! Ok, granted this was my first Pro show and that was a shocker but so was the caliber of the competitors...very impressive.
I am so grateful I jumped in and did this show for several reasons...got the chance to meet IFBB Pro Cheryl Brown,....what an experience! She gave me some valuable tips on posing after the show and I will be forever grateful!
My posing at this level needs some serious redo. I am competing at the Jr US show on May 21 and this will give me the help I needed to tweak some things.
Learned how the Pros do it! What an great opportunity to be back stage with the IFBB Pros. It really was a empowering experience to see these gals first hand back stage and witness for myself how they approach a competition.
This was without a doubt a defining moment for me. This has crystalized for me in my mind what I need to work on to get to that next level!
OK REALITY CHECK. I went to go see a chiro/nutritionist/ex-bb competitor this week. His advice? give it 6/9 mo. Yes. I'm not happy with the news but I'm happy he was straight up with me. Since I teach so much at times it has been tough workin my legs like I should. So. Work cut out 4 me. His advice? Fall or so. OK I can deal w/ that>
I'm actually relieved it takes some pressure off of needing to cram all of the things that I need to learn....poses, show stuff ya-da-ya-da-ya da.
He gave me really great tips/ I'm respectable as far as group fitness goes but now were talkin' competitions. Different level completely. I thought I loved cardio. He wants cardio every day for 1/2 hour...now I'm not so sure I love cardio. I've already dropped a few lbs, this could be a very exciting and I'm really anxious to see what new levels I can achieve. I 'm at a place where I'm feeling like this whole thing could be really awesome, if I do it right =)
New pix posted soon! AEII
Maxd out but Motivated!
OK. I'm a fitness junkette since forever! Played tons of sports got into Group Fitness scene, Personal Training and wa la there you have it.
I teach hmmmm 5-6 classes at the gym, cardio (burn 700 cal.) , weight conditioning (500-600), martial arts (600+) and then I train and lift to stay competitive so I won't fall over and croak while im teaching.
My challenge will be as a Fitness Instructor, PT can I pull off a figure competition? I really honestly do not know. I'd like to try! I'm at the gym enuf that is for sure...it's just a matter of now putting it all together for an EVENT. Ohhh., seems scary. I have many many things to learn. If you care to share your experiences, fire away I'd love to hear from you especially newbies to figure competitions!
I will post my pix as I go on this journey. My hopes are to compete this June but I'm not really sure if I will feel ready?!!!! Do you ever really feel ready!???? Urgh.
