No more creatine?

November 9, 2009

I’ve decided I fall into that small category of people whose bodies don’t respond to creatine. My second attempt with the miracle monohydrate has yielded little results. Nothing I can’t contribute to a regular dose of protein and a little hustle on the treadmill. Maybe my expectations were too high, but everyone I know who used creatine says it works wonders. It’s really disappointing for me as a small guy. Its also one less supplement I have to spend my money on.

What can you change?

September 4, 2009

I have a small chest. There was little to start with, and little there now. I’ve tried just about every single chest exercise in the history of weightlifting with barely any results. What amazes me about lifting is you can do the same amount of work on different parts of your body and see drastically different results…which I think has nothing to do with form & consistency & everything to do with genetics. For me, i’ve pounded away at my chest with little improvement, but I lift a bottle of laundry detergent and my arms get bigger. Go figure! A circuit workout for the pecs, which I read about on tmuscle, has me sore several days after. I’ve been following it for a few weeks, and it seems like it may be helping. It involves flat bench, incline fly, & flat fly all in a circuit (no rest between), with lighter weight as you move between exercises. By the time I get to the flat fly, it burns like hell, but i like it!

lightweight baby!

My little homage to Ronnie Coleman. I always think about his catchphrase as I lay back under a stack of weights. It doesn’t always do the trick, but it is motivating.
