This year, my fitness resolution is to work on strengthening my upper body. I admit that I’ve been neglectful and have focused initially on my lower body primarily because this is where I needed the most work. Now that I have my lower body just where I want it (boy that sounded wrong…lol), it’s time to switch it up. Free weights are difficult for me to use because I have problems maintaining form and there’s rarely a spotter there when i work out in the mornings. Good thing my gym has a brand new line of Precor equipment to use. Some exercises, such as skullcrushers and dumbbell presses, I’ll keep using the regular dumbbells for but until I gain a significant amount of strength, it’s the assisted machines for just about everything else.

I reached 400lbs on the assisted squat machine a couple of weeks ago…i was so proud of myself! =) Needless to say I don’t do that much weight all of the time now and try to mix it up fairly well so my body doesn’t get used to it and I don’t destroy my knees. I learned a long time ago to take good care of my body with diet, exercise, and good supplementation. Here’s to Joint Flex for keeping my knees strong so I can have a killer butt! LOL

More successful gains in my upper body today. I’m up to 25lbs on d-bell shoulder press! I knew patience would yield results and while progress is slow, I am progressing.

I went up to 360 on squats today (assisted machine of course). This is the highest I’ve ever been on any lower body exercise. I owe it to the new training regimen, correct supplementation, and of course diet! I switched back to eating meat (former veggie-head) because my protein needs weren’t being met. I have never felt better and am looking forward to continued progress!

As of today, I have made many successful strength gains in all areas. Progress is slow, especially on my upper body, but I have complete and total faith in my body’s ability to grow and adapt. Stress levels don’t help much so I’m doing my best to combat those.

After my recent left wrist sprain, I decided it was time to shake things up on the workout program. I had hit a plateau before I ever even injured myself but the resulting weakness in my upper body (from my inability to train it as I healed) motivated me to try something new and a tad tougher. Bearing that in mind, I found a wonderful workout regime on BB.COM called Muscle Mutilation. I began it last week but cut the set # in half merely to test my strength. I must say I was surprised at how much memory those muscles have! This week, I’m going all out - looking forward to seeing the results!
