New Workout, New Diet, New Adam?

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

I recently recieved some advice from some who I would say is a seasoned Bodybuilder.  He told me to make some modifications to my diet and to my workout routine.  I ate healthy before, but it may not have been the best diet plan for me.  My workout was also not the best either.  I was doing a five day/week mass building routine that works well for beginners I suppose.  I was able to put on a solid 20lbs(roughly 10Kg) in a little under a year.  Then I came to a point where I was not getting any bigger and I was not getting any stronger.  I delt with this frustration for nearly a year and then decided to ask people in one of the many forums at the BBing.com site.  I was met with numerous replies telling me that I needed to change my workout to a strength training program.  Specifically, the Westside for Skinny Bas***** routine.  So I did.  I’ve been on the workout for a week now.  Obviously, I cannot give any kind of legitimate update because I have not been doing it long enough to see the results.  With the large amount of compelling evidence I found online, I feel like this workout will certainly help me reach my mass and strength goals.  On another note, I did change my diet and am eating lots of protein, lots of good carbs, and taking my EFA’s.  I instituted the dietary change two weeks ago, and I must say that the results have been great.  I have actually leaned up and gotten a bit stronger.  I will continue to keep my strict diet and exercise routines for an undermined period.  I will post progress pictures in December to see how roughly 8-10 weeks will change me.  So the questions still remains to be answered, will the new workout and new diet result in a new Adam?  We will see.  There’s a link to my training journal in my body space under my forum signature.  Check out my progress and leave me some feedback.

I cut the Cardio.

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

I recently got my diet extemely clean.  I eat as clean as possible.  I am eating enough to go anabolic.  I was advised by a friend to cut out the cardio for a while or at least cut back on it severly.  I am not sure if this is a good idea, but I am giving it a shot.  I was running three to four days per week for 20-25 minutes.  No, it’s not a heavy cardio regimen by any means, but it serves it purpose.  I stay fairly lean running like that and being kind of lax with my diet.  The true test of nutrition will come now that the cardio has been minimized.  Will I get fat or will I put on muscle quickly enough to minimize fat gains?  I don’t know but my progress pictures in 5 weeks will tell the tale.  Wish me luck.

Cheat Day: Friend or Foe?

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

I eat clean all week long.  The closest thing to unhealthy that I have would probably be ketchup with my grilled chicken or maybe an extra peice of fruit.  I go through the week with no real cravings for anything "bad", but when the weekend gets here I want bread and sweets.  Usually on sunday I let loose.  I don’t eat a lot in the morning at breakfast or even lunch because I am on the UGA meal plan (which is completely awesome).  On sunday night, the dining hall is closed and we are on our own for dinner.  I usually use this as a cheat meal.  I’ll go eat mexican or something like that.  I will eat so much that I am completely full.  That was just the friendly part of cheat day though.  The next day is where the reprocussions appear.  Carb bloat!  I get such a terrible carb bloat and it does not go away until about the middle of the week.  So my definition is shot for a while and then I look decent for a couple days.  After a few days of narcicistic satisfaction, the process begins again.  I really don’t understand why I crave the cheat day and how to get over it because it makes my body look horrible.  What to do….What to do?
