ON $100,000 Transformation Challenge Essay
I entered the transformation challenge for mainly motivational purposes. I finally got my act together fitness wise in May of 2010 and I wanted something to push myself to continue with my lifestyle change.
Other than being sick for about 2 weeks towards the end of my challenge I did not face many challenges. I was able to stay motivated and managed to get most of my workouts in. I also managed to squeeze in quite a bit of skiing, which was awesome!
For my workouts I followed Madcow's 5X5 intermediate program. I also went to rowing and spin classes two to three times a week. My strength has increased a lot, I hit quite a few PR's lifting in the past 12 weeks and feel I have also increased my cardiovascular endurance.
For nutrition I tried to stick between 2000 and 2300 calories a day. This seems to be a good level for me to make some strength gains and lose some bodyfat. I did not have a crazy strict diet plan, just tried to hit my calories and macro ratios. I lost around 6 lbs. I lost 2 inches off of my thighs and waist, and 1 inch off of my chest and hips. I did not have a crazy transformation, but I am very pleased with my progress and am okay with slow and steady.
All in all it has been a great 12 weeks! I am nowhere near finished yet, I want to get a lot stronger and more fit. I look forward to continuing my journey, I can't wait to go lift tomorrow and hopefully hit another PR!
