Day Off

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

Although I did have to drag my sorry butt out of bed to come to work today, on my day off, I did not get up and work out.  I moved my work out day off from Saturday to Sunday this week in hopes of actually sleeping in.  We I guess waking up at 5am could be seen as sleeping in when you normally get up at 3:45am.  Well that’s enough complaining from me.  I went to bed early and took some vitamins.  I am feeling better today and the sickness is in its final stages, I hope.  I will workout tomorrow regardless of how I feel.  I am planning on a cheat meal today but I think it will consist of rotisserie chicken from the store.  The rest of my meals will be diet as usual.

Sick

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

Well let’s see.  How has the week gone?  I am working about 60 hours a week, I am now sick and my workouts have been lame.  I am still getting to the gym, lifting and doing cardio.  I did legs this morning at 4am and then did the elliptical at level 10 for 40 min.  Tomorrow is my day off but I will have to work a 12 hours shift.  So much for sleeping in.  I guess I can catch up on sleep next week.  I don’t want to push my self so hard I get really sick but I know if I back down I will end up backsliding and that is never a good thing.  We got some new equipment in the gym at the department and that has made it an even better place to work out.  We replaced our old smith machine with a free weight squat rack.  We replaced our Power blocks with Dumbbells (5lb … 100lb) and put them on racks.  We also added a Stairmaster that we borrowed from another department. It is great having that kind of equipment at the office.  I can workout; shower and get dressed at the department then work my shift.  If wasn’t for the office gym I do not think I would be able to workout as much as I do.  I have a home gym but my only cardio is a stationary bike and that gets old fast.  Oh well, I guess I will take some vitamins and tell myself that I am not sick.

Progress, its a good thing

My workouts have been great lately.  Everything is up a few pounds except me.  I am down 2 pounds but I feel like I have lost more than that.  I think I have put on a little muscle mass.  My diet is working well although I am finding it hard to eat as much food as I have to.  When you eat clean it is amazing how much you have to eat.  Today I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  I did 10 to 12 reps each with one minute rest.  I prefer the days when I do low rep with 3 min rest because I can go heavier.  But the high rep short rest is a good change.  I must say I get a better pump with the high rep.  My wife is about 5 weeks out from her first bodybuilding show and she has been a real inspiration to me.

Day whatever

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Ok I fixed my diet and am completely back on track.  I am doing 45% protein, 45% carbs and 10% fat.  I am consuming 2500 calories a day.  It is a lot of food but I feel good and have lost a pound in the last 4 days.  I am no diet guru but this seems to be a good and easy to follow plan.  My lifting has been right on track.  I am still doing 6 days a week hitting each body part twice a week.  My cardio is up to a solid 30 to 45 min a day 6 days a week.  I am taking Saturday’s off and eating cheat meals on that day.  I don’t think the cheat meals will be that bad.  Maybe just higher carbs.  I will have to see how well it works.  My wife is down to about 10 or 11% body fat in her preparation for her first contest.  She has been a true inspiration to me.  She looks amazing and is getting ripped.  I am trying to stay on track and diet with her so it is not so hard for her.  The one big change I am making this week is I am cutting out my fat burner.  I am just not convinced it is doing anything for me.  Something to try.

Ok, now I’m mad

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

I call BS.  I have been lifting 6 days a week and doing 30 min of cardio.  I have been running for the most part but also on the bike and elliptical.  Now I will admit that my diet is not perfect but I have not had candy, soda, fried or fatty foods.  I have been keeping my protein up and my carbs moderate.  So what do I get for getting up at 3:50 am, working out as hard as I can and eating well?  I gained 4 pounds this week.  That is why I am calling BS.  Yea maybe it muscle (is fat a muscle) or maybe the scale is wrong.  I feel tired but good.  I feel like my pants are loose but that dam scale.  I think I will take it out to the range and put 4 pounds of bullets in it.  Dam you scale, dam you to hell.
