DIET — Don’t be a pansy (Day 13)

What a difference a day makes. I paid dearly all morning yesterday for the diet slip-up Monday night. I’ll spare everyone the unpleasant details, but suffice to say that my physical anguish more than matched the mental angst. LESSON LEARNED:  When eating clean consistently, the body does not like to be filled with junk. Well, I had another "guy" movie to watch last night while the family was still away. But this time, there was ZERO INTEREST in slipping off the clean eats diet. It was squeaky clean eats & no cheats. To top it off, the movie was a much better one too. Nice relaxing evening & back on the ‘No Pansy Parade’. Workout this morning was pretty spiffy too.   :D

WORKOUT THIS AM  —  LEGS:

(8-10 reps, 45-75 sec’s rest)

–  Smith machine squats  (5 sets, 2 dropsets on last set)

–  Hack squats  (3 sets, 2 dropsets on last set)

–  Calf raises  (6 sets, 2 dropsets on last set)

–  Leg curls  (4 sets, 1 dropset on last set)

–  Leg extensions  (4 sets, 1 dropset on last set)

–  Alternating step ups on bench  (3 sets, 25 lbs in each hand)

I’ve resumed using my weight belt the last couple months on leg day, due to my scoliosis.  What a Godsend, as I’m more able to ramp up intensity on squats while keeping lower back pain to a minimum

ABS:  Leg raises  (3 sets)  &  crunches w/ 10 lb wt  (3 sets)

Just getting to the gym IS a successful workout!   :D

GREAT ATTITUDE. I SLIPPED UP, TOO, AND YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT EVERY DAY MAKING A DIFFERENCE. THE BODY IS AN AMAZING THING, AND CAN ADAPT TO A LOT, BUT IF IT IS FILLED WITH JUNK, IT WILL ADAPT TO JUNK,.,…..SAME WITH THE CLEAN EATING. I AM TRYING TO HARD, AND TODAY I WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.

  2. kbyers01 Says:

nice job picking yourself up and getting back on the clean eats wagon.

  3. jrahlfs Says:

    Al:

Looks like a great workout. I’m glad being back on the wagon is having positive benefits. have a great one.

  4. jwcf150 Says:

Amazing how the body let’s you know when it dosen’t want something. And sometin=mes in the most unpleasent ways! Back on track is good. Sounds like a good leg morning. I have legs this evening myself. But at the risk od sounding, well, not too bright, what are hack squats? I may know if I see someone doing them, but just didn’t know what they were called. Have a good one.

  5. Maritimer Says:

Quit braggin’ , wouldya??? :) You’re toooo clean for me who ate THREE bars yesterday. So what movie did you see? Is that your usual trigger of junk? Great work, Al–you’re starting to tick me off. Guess that means you’re doing it right. LOL

  6. StrongerGeek Says:

I’ve found that too. My body has a low tolerance for greasy and/or sugary foods, and punishes me when I have too much of it.

  7. mrinkysplaytoy Says:

glad the movie was better than the first one. :) keep it up! Great looking work out.

  8. FanSuperman Says:

BTW You didn’t mention the movie title :)
I still crave the bad foods… after all this time but certain ‘bad foods’ REALLY make me sick so I steer clear of pasta’s and ribs even on my cheat.

  9. lynnde43 Says:

You’ll be burning the fat and building muscle with that leg workout! Congrats on getting past the cheat treats and moving on with your clean eating! Keep kickin’ those workouts. :-)

  10. Ecnewyx Says:

I was going to say that, for me, the mental anguish is usually much worse than the physical anguish. But yesterday I wanted to cheat but the food just didn’t taste very good anymore. So I guess you’re right and both are awful! Good job on staying strong!

  11. WaynesWorld Says:

WORD! no pansies here bro. Everytime i want to "cheat" on the diet i just slip in "300" to remember how far i am away from gerard butler’s abs that i want so bad.

  12. Al--1961 Says:

Now you’re talking Wayne……"300" is definitely a "guy" movie. Urah! :D

  13. u2mom Says:

See, you are a true Caniac! You allow a little slip up (like dropping game 1) and then you come back full force! Awesome job! I am so soooo with you and Waybe about "300"… I find that movie to be very, um, inspirational!

Best line: "Just there the barbarians huddle, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers… knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of three hundred. Yet they stare now across the plain at *ten thousand* Spartans commanding thirty thousand free Greeks! HA-OOH!

  14. betterstronger Says:

Hahaha ! I totally feel you.. I had a similar incident the other day. Usually I cook food but I was pressed for time and got the tomato mozzarella panini from Panera.. a couple hours later, my stomach was writhing in knots and had to be calmed by Pepto Bismol. I think it’s a great thing that both of us are becoming conditioned to eating clean! :)

  15. skipeejes Says:

Good for you! The same happens to me, when I’m eating clean then decide to have junk food. It’s sooo good but pay the price for it!

  16. Ledford45 Says:

Way to bounce back on the clean street Al and great leg blasting workout as well. Stay Strong young man.

  17. jcouillard Says:

Al, great job sticking with your program. How long are you shooting for on this diet?
