Veterans: THANK YOU

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Thank you to all the men & women who have served, or are currently serving our Nation in the military.  Thank you also to your families, who sacrifice along with you through deployments, uncertainty & moving to new duty stations.  If you know someone who is a vet, or someone who is active military, take a moment to thank them.

I think about the WWII generation of vets that are passing, since my father passed last December.  Saving Private Ryan was a movie that hit home a lot with me, since my father survived WWII, but had lots of friends & comrades who didn’t make it.  My dad was a B-17 bomber pilot, and was shot down over Germany in December 1944.  He spent the rest of the war in a German POW camp.  I’m very grateful for his generation, as well as the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War I, and many other vets who’ve sacrificed;  and the many who made the ultimate sacrifice, and did not come back home to their families.  THANK YOU.

Saturday morning UNawesomeness :-(

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

I turned a little cheat night into a HUGE junk food binge last night.  I am exceedingly angry & frustrated.  On top of that, I am at work this morning to finish a deadline from last week.  That means I can’t fit a workout in today to at least burn off some of those calories AND my frustration.  So I’ve gone from a "Wheaties Friday" to a "Loser Saturday".    :-(

I know that later I’ll let myself off the hook, as I remind myself that life is full of 3 steps forward & 2 steps back.  What’s important is to not lose sight of my goal, and to remember this is about a lifetime of health & fitness, not a 1-time diet.   But for now, I have a cloud over my head as I am in a Bad Mood……

Later, I’ll re-focus on my motto (and kill it at the gym Monday) that….

JUST GETTING TO THE GYM IS A SUCCESSFUL WORKOUT.    :-)

Friday awesomeness :-)

Friday, November 7th, 2008

TGIF.  I had another "Wheaties Friday".  Worked lats & traps on weights, finishing out the week on multiple sets per exercise, with only 15-20 sec’s rest between sets & progressive lower weights to failure.  CARDIO:  35 min’s interval running on the treadmill, followed by 15 min’s of intervals on the elliptical.  Dropped some sweat there!  Whew!

And as I predicted yesterday, I’m real sore from working chest yesterday.  Feeeeeels great.      :-)

Have a fantabulous & blessed weekend.  God loves ya.

Going to be sore tomorrow :-)

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Did chest this morning.  Continuing on with multiple sets per exercise with only 15-20 sec’s rest between sets & progressive lower weights to failure.  The last few sets are pretty LOW weights.  Next, I did cardio on the elliptical.  Did 35 min’s of intervals (faster intervals today, just to change it up a little).  Then another 10-15 min’s of chest, changing between dumbbell presses & flyes, and between flat bench/incline bench.

Today is a new day.  Hope yours is blessed.

On a roll! - 1 day in a row…..

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Got my groove back last night after a horrible week last week, eating everything in sight.  No munching after dinner last night.  Back to moving forward.

Hit the gym at 5:15am today.  Did shoulders (delts & traps).  Working multiple sets per exercise with only 15-20 sec’s rest between sets & progressive lower weights to failure.  Those last few sets are pretty LOW weights……Then hit the treadmill for 35 min’s of intervals, with hard running.  Whew, it kicked my butt today.  It was great!

Have a groovacious day!  And encourage someone.

Recommitment, Voting & Gators

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Time to have a clean week of eating. Last week was not a standout performance by yours truly.  This week:  I WILL eat clean.  No nighttime munching.  Low carb & high protein diet for the week.  This morning’s workout:  Lats (multiple sets per exercise with only 15-20 sec’s rest between sets to failure);  then 50 min’s of intervals on the elliptical.

We’re tremendously blessed with the privilege to vote in this great land.  Regardless of  political leanings, I hope all BB.com folks take advantage of this and vote.  We are blessed to live in such a great country with liberty & freedom.   :-)

Not trying to rub it in the face of the Dawgs.  Just a happy Gator!

Here’s to health & fitness.  Make it a GREAT week!
