Friday, October 31st, 2008
Well folks, I couldn’t resist.  This is what college football is all about.   :-)

FL vs GA:  Arch-rivals, SEC title implications, and national title implications (both teams in Top 10).

MUNCHY MONSTER

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Boy have I had a devil of a time holding the nighttime munchies at bay this week.  Last night:  chips & salsa AND a bowl of ice cream.  What’s up with that??!!  I’m not tempted much with daytime munching.  I eat healthy low carb meals every 2-3 hours.  But this week…..man!

On the upside, having good workouts.  This morning I did chest.  Still doing rotating sets this week for weights (multiple sets for each muscle group, but different exericse every set).  Then I did 45 min’s of intervals on the elliptical.  Heartrate > 145-150 for most of this time.

Make it a great day.  As always,

Wheaties & voting

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I’ve definitely been a wheaties kind of guy this past week (in mind only).  Had another great workout this morning.  After working shoulders I did 45 min’s of interval cardio (35 min’s of walking/running on the treadmill, followed by 10 min’s on the elliptical).  Those running intervals will have yours truly sore tomorrow.  I’ve been doing rotating sets this week for weights (multiple sets for each muscle group, but different exericse every set).

I voted this week in early voting here in NC.  Glad I won’t be stuck in a long voting line on election day next Tuesday.  Whatever happens with the election, we’re blessed with the privilege of voting for our gov’t leaders.  America……what a great country!!!!

Who’s been hiding my Wheaties??!!!

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I had an absolutely fantabulous awesome w/o this morning.  Did a change-up on my shoulders by rotating a different exercise every set.  Great burn.  But cardio…….WOW!  I usually do 20-45 min’s.  Today I felt so strong & energized that I did 60 min’s of hard intervals on the elliptical.  I could have gone for another 20-30 min’s, but had to get home so my wife could hit the gym too.

I’ll be residing in ENDORPHIN CITY for the rest of the morning…….    :-)

Here’s hoping you have an awesome w/o today & a blessed weekend.

Victory over the temptation BEAST

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I walked into the breakroom at work, just a little while ago before lunch.  I’m already hungry, and nobody else was there.  THERE IT WAS!  A bakery box with half a cake (my favorite kind).  And a note saying "feel free to have a slice".  There were even paper plates & plastic forks.  Ohhhhhh the hardship!

I wrestled with my food conscience.  Should I?  It’s lunchtime;  not nighttime after dinner.  Do it!  Do it!

MY CONSCIENCE SECURED VICTORY!!  I remembered the goal, turned smartly around & BOLTED FOR THE DOOR!.  Whew.     :-)

And, as always:

JUST GETTING TO THE GYM IS A SUCCESSFUL WORKOUT.    :-)

On the comeback trail….. :-)

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Had an OUTSTANDING workout this morning, after being sick.  Had to go home from work last Thursday with a stomach bug.  Spent all day Friday in bed or on the couch (and my wife was sick the same day with it too!).  Dragged myself to the gym Saturday morning for a sad attempt at exercise.  Then yesterday (Monday), had another awful workout as I woke up with acid reflux & indigestion.  YUCK!  I thought I was coming down with the stomach bug again.

Today, I hit the gym raring to go.  Had a great chest workout & a hard 40 min’s of cardio, doing intervals on the elliptical.  Sweating like a big dog, yepper!

God is good.  God is sovereign.  Have a blessed day.

Whether sick or well……..

Cartwheels & sluggishness

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Today was not a stellar workout;  not feeling great.  My stomach is doing cartwheels, I have a slight headache and an overall sluggishness.  I worked biceps, triceps & 30 min’s of cardio on the elliptical.

Not good when you start off the workday looking for your 2nd wind.  I’m ready for a nap………

It’s a good thing I believe in my motto:

JUST GETTING TO THE GYM IS A SUCCESSFUL WORKOUT.     :-)

Here’s hoping I manage to encourage & brighten someone’s day…….

Weekend workout embarassment - YIKES!

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Saturday morning I was at the gym working shoulders & cardio on the elliptical.  Had a major faux pas.

I was sitting on a bench doing bentover rows with dumbbells.  I was straining on the last couple reps on a set when I audibly passed wind!  I didn’t even know I had gas.  There was a girl about 4-5 ft behind me doing pushups.  I thought to myself, "please Lord, let her have earphones on & the music cranked up".  After finally working up the courage to glance back……she did not have earphones on.  DOH!!

I’m laughing now, but I was not on Saturday morning.  Gotta have a sense of humor.

But, I still believe:

JUST GETTING TO THE GYM IS A SUCCESSFUL WORKOUT!!     :-)

GREAAAAAAT WORKOUT THIS MORNING!

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I decided to add in cardio this morning due to some after dinner munching last night.  I was hoping to back off cardio this week to give my legs a break.  After having a good chest w/o, I did a quick warmup on elliptical.  Then I did a hard interval session for 45 min’s.  My heart rate was > 150 for most of that time.  Boy was I dripping with sweat!

It was a much needed morning boost.  I didn’t feel good all day yesterday, and had a mediocre shoulder workout.

Persistence, hope, positive attitude & consistency.  Each day’s small victories are huge at the moment, and they add up towards reaching the goal.

JUST GETTING TO THE GYM IS A SUCCESSFUL WORKOUT!!        :-)
