PT 2: Bouncing back & Endorphins!!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I simply cannot say enough to extol the benefits of morning workouts.  I’m still feeling energized at 11:30am.  I worked out this morning at the gym from 5:10am to 6:30am.  Jump starting the day with a morning workout & getting those endorphins swimming their way through the bloodstream simply rocks.  :-)

For those who can’t drag themselves out of bed:  I used to be a night-owl.  It took a little while to make this a habit, but now it’s part of who I am.  I often wake up before my alarm, and my workout is a high mark for most days.  PLUS, with a wife and 2 awesome daughters (simply the cutest on the planet), exercise after work is not an option for me.  AND, there’s nothing to interfere with a 5am or 6am workout.  I do admit, however, that I turn into a pumpkin around 8:30-9pm.  No important decisions for me late at night!

Now make it a blessed day.

Bouncing back & Endorphins!!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Today I’m bouncing back after being sick for 4-5 days & eating terribly over the weekend.  I had a great workout this morning as my energy level is back up.  I worked my back with weights, then did an intense 45 min’s of cardio on the elliptical.  My heart rate was > 150 for most of my cardio. So……….ENDORPHIN RUSH!  Gotta love it.

Something about being sick

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Whenever I get sick, my good eating habits go out the window.   :-/

I’ve been under the weather since Thursday.  Over the weekend it finally got the best of me;  I felt lousy and ate horribly.  ALL weekend.  I find that when I feel lousy, I simply don’t care how I eat.  Anyone else find this true also?

I did make it to the gym this morning, but did not have a good workout.  But, I stand by my motto, so it was still a good start to the day.

Victory over temptation

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

So I get home from work last night, and find that my wife & daughters have baked about 3 dozen chocolate chip cookies.  Piping hot, right out of the oven, sitting out on the kitchen counter.  Yikes!  Plus, we had 2 kinds of ice cream in the freezer — Chocolate Chip Mint Brownie + Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  Man-o-man!

Did I happen to mention there was chocolate?  (I’m a choco-hound)  I MANAGED TO COMPLETELY ABSTAIN.  Later on, after dinner, all I had was a small bowl of Grape Nuts cereal mixed with some protein powder, and a little soy milk.

I’m feeling great this morning.  I beat back the beast last night, and had a great workout this morning before work.  HOW COOL IS THAT?

Make it a blessed day.  And remember:
