Grind it out day

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I rarely lack motivation to workout, but this morning was a tough one.  I had no energy and hadn’t slept well the last couple nights.  It didn’t help that I binged on chips and treats last night, so I was not in a good mood this morning either.  It’s interesting that we can encourage others when they have a slip up, but get ticked off and down on ourselves when we slip.

Today was chest & triceps day, plus 20 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical.  Fortunately, the real difference between a lousy or tough workout and a great workout is really only 5-10% at most.  I certainly don’t lift 50-75% more weight on a great day, compared to a bad day.

JUST GETTING TO THE GYM IS A SUCCESSFUL WORKOUT.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Priorities / Perspective

Friday, August 8th, 2008

1ST BLOG ENTRY:  I usually workout M-F in the morning, at 5-5:30am before work.  I’ve been getting up early now to hit the gym for 6 yrs, so it’s ingrained as a habit.  Nowadays, I wake up before my alarm on many mornings.  The body is simply an awesome machine.

My hope is that I use my workouts as a means to an end, not an end in itself.  I love working out, and it’s one of the best parts of my day.  Certainly a great way to start the day.  It’s a rare day that I’m not stoked while heading for the gym.  However, sometimes, I have to remind myself that working out is one of the many tools God provides to enrich our lives.  My level of fitness should enhance my enjoyment and productivity in life, not become my primary focus.

SO HERE’S TO GOOD WORKOUTS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO ENCOURAGE & BLESS SOMEONE TODAY.
