I decided to blog about the next 9 weeks until I run my first 1/2 marathon.

A little background…in January 2008 I decided to start "running" around the park next to my place. I say "running" because when I first started I could run 1/10 of a mile without getting so out of breath! Long story short, since January I have lost almost 40lbs I ran my first 5k on Thanksgiving and did it under 30 minutes, which was a record for me…lol! Either way, it is all about person bests and goals. So my bf’s sister is big into runner/triathlons. She actually ran the 5 k with me. Well not even two days after the 5k she sent me an email and asked me to run in the 1/2 marathon with her and her cousin in February. I really want to get into Triathlons and I actually just got my first road bike for my b-day (Dec 4.) and I figured it cant hurt to start with a long run before I really get into tri’s.

So here we are…a full week into the training and I was ready to quit on Sunday. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are short runs about 3 miles…but Sunday’s, are what I like to call hell day’s, are my long runs. This past Sunday was my first "long run" and was 4 miles…I have NEVER run 4 miles before and when I was in the mist of it, I just kept repeating, "I will never run again, I will never run again"…but when it was said and done, I felt so accomplished! Every Sunday from now until the race I have to increase my distance a mile!

Well I am off to get my run in for the day….3 miles, which used to be my long runs are now my "short runs"…funny how that happens. Oh well…I will be updating my blog weekly to keep myself going. Wish me luck…

Thanks for reading the rant of the week…LOL!
