Slightly injured; but not letting it slow me down

Hi Everyone,

Hope your training hard and enjoying life!!  What have I been up to you may be asking yourself?  Well, I’m still training but what else is new ;) .  This past Sunday I was doing cardio (have to get my miles in) and as always I incorporate interval training.  In the midst of doing my sprints, I strained my hamstring…I was in full stride; knees lifted and running hard and then that’s when it happened.  The knot in my hamstring followed by immense pain.  UGH!  I went down luckily not too hard…Thank you God. It’s not too bad now however on Sunday, I was afraid to walk…when I got home, I iced my leg and propped it up.  I didn’t do cardio on Monday just to let my leg rest and extra day.  I still worked out just with some modifications.  I did cardio yesterday, I was able to use the elliptical for 30 minutes without feeling anything.  This morning I rode the bike for 30 minutes; the only downside is that I don’t want to increase the levels yet for fear of agitating the strain.  The bright side of this, I can walk, I am still able to work out, I can still do cardio even though it may not be at the intensity I may want…as long as I can sweat and get my heart rate up that’s what matters.  Tonight is my leg night…now how this is going to go, I have no idea.  I know I am not going to lift heavy and my leg will be wrapped up.  I will definitely have to post tomorrow to let you know if I survived my leg workout..WOW I haven’t used survived since I started working out hard…LOL!! But hey everything happens for a reason, I’ll get through this and I’m definitely not going to let it bring my spirits down.  So be blessed, be encouraged, know that things may not always go right, however the storm always passes with faith and prayer. Love ya’ll for reading…stay tuned!!

go slow it will get better in bout 2 weeks.
I strained mind last year doing some sprinting training for a show is took bout 2-3 weeks.
I was still able to train quads, just not as heavy on the hamstring work.

Be careful in whatever you do and once you feel 100% again, it might be smart to add more stretching to your workouts. Since I started doing yoga once a week, I don’t have any of the tweeks I used to get periodically.
