So it was a dreary day here in mid-Ohio, and when that alarm went off at 6:45 and I could hear the pooring rain outside, training was the furthest thing from my mind. Nevertheless, I managed to get up, roll my sweat pants up, and head off to the gym. I’ve been doing this push/pull workout for the last couple of weeks and I’m really enjoying it. Today I decided I would try a low weight/ high rep combo, mostly because I had never done it and I figure manipulating in this way would keep me from getting bored as well as keep my body guessing. I’ll do this from week to week and see if anything comes of it.
Ooh another new this morning was a protein shake I made using a recipe in The Eat Clean Diet Cookbook. It had my cookies n’ cream protein powder, oatmeal, peanut butter (natural of course), agave nectar, and cinnamon. It tasted just like peanut butter oatmeal cookies, yummy.
And to round out the day I went and got my hair done, had a mini facial, and fixed another meal from my cookbook. Life is good

So after listening to a Valerie Waugaman interview in which she stated she uses Emerald Balanced and has seen a marked improvement in her hair skin and nails, I decided to look into it and give it a try. (FYI: Emerald Balance is a superfood powder with all kinds of fruits and veggies in it) The website said that it could potentially help with eczema and I have a moderate case and I’ll take help anywhere I can get it. I was a little nervous because I had tasted a drink like this before and it was worse than dirt, so I only picked up a 14-day supply. I was pleasantly surprised, it’s actually not bad, more fruity than veggie tasting, though it is somewhat gritty. Once I finish the box, I’ll probably give it a supplement review on here.

Last night I did cardio and this morning was legs. I did the stairclimber for 30 minutes and then went upstairs to the track. I got bored just runnin round and round so I decided to jog the curves and sprint the straights. Let me tell ya, that got your girl’s heart pumpin. I even kept myself motivated by keeping myself a certain distance from this group of dudes who were up there. Fun fun fun. This morning I dreaded because I honestly hate doing legs. I don’t know what it is about them. Anywho, I got in there and wouldn’t you know it, I was able to increase my weight on squats, leg curls, and leg extentions and I even threw in some lunges (my most hated exercise) just for kicks. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and saturday’s soreness. Yea me! lol

I’m a dork I know Anyway, I’ve heard all this jabberin’ lately about Ezekial bread and its health benefits and this that and the other. So I decided to give it a try, especially since it would give me an excuse to go to Whole Foods. Can I just say, that that place is magical. Everyone is always so happy when I go there, the shoppers, the employees… The atmosphere alone is enough for me to make the trip. I did end up splurging on a slice of pizza, ( I know, bad girl) but it was certainly worth the extra miles of cardio I’ll have to pound out this week. Oh, how I can’t wait to my days of grad school poverty are over so I can buy all my groceries there. So back to the bread. I got home, tried it out, and wouldn’t you know it it’s actually good. Who knew the Bible could be used as a recipe book too! I’m eatin right now with a lil spray butter dipped in some homemade turkey chili, what more could a girl ask for?

So the feedback that I’ve been getting lately is that perhaps the full-body routine that I’ve been doing for the last two months has out-stayed it’s welcome. Actually, I’ve had that feeling myself for a little while now, but I guess I was just procrastinating on adressing it. I’m not quite sure how I want to go from here. I’ve been on the net for the past hour or so researching pull/push routines, upper/lower splits, and 3-day splits. My schedule would lend itself more to a 3-day split, but I would prefer to work each body part at least twice a week. I know myself, and me consistently going to the gym on Saturday and Sunday is doubtful so most likely I will be chossing the 3-day.
I’ve also decided to really tackle the diet. This has most certainly been put off for too long. I thought that if I just resolved to eat clean that everything would fall into place, but I think that for at least two to three weeks I need to really keep a close eye on my calories and macros becauase honestly I don’t know what I’ve been eating and that is not going to get me anywhere. So, I’ve figured out the numbers, set up my Fitday, and tomorrow I’ll be rocking and rolling. I’d start today, but there’s hardly any food in the joint, and I’m pretty sure an egg samich is gonna be dinner.
