Well folks, I have a powelifting comp in the morning! So excited!! Here at the hotel writing ou all this blog. Just got back from IHOP for the second time, haha. I got to pack on that weight to throw up some weight in the morning. I first went to IHOP around 7:30 and ate a full stack of Butterscoth Pecan Pancakes….uhhhh.. and a ham and cheese omlet. Boy was I stuffed. I just got back from eating two servings of french toast, so basically half a loaf of bread, haha.
I weighed in at exactly 230 lbs. I’m probably at 235-240 right now after eating all those carbs, haha. I’m opening with 435 lbs on squat, 335 lbs on bench, and 525 lbs on deadlift. Currently, my PRs are 370 lbs bench (350 in competition), squat I would say I’m around 465, 475 lbs; at my last full power meet I squatted 435 easily, but that was back in November so I’m well past that, and PR on deadlift is 550.
Currently, the World rcord for bench at 242 lbs in the junior division (ages 20-24) is 400 set back in ‘03. I’m hoping to get close to that, maybe around 490ish, but we’ll see how I’m feling tomorrow. Not to concerned about squat, bu I’m hoping on getting around 475, if not more. I’d like to get 575 on deadlifts, but again depending on how it all goes tomorrow.
I’m trying to get up to 250 lbs by the end of the year, so I can cut down to 242, then get back up to 250 come time to lift. You get stronger as you wigh more. Take into consideration the 20 lbs I’m looking to pack on will be done the healthy way. None of that McDonalds all day every day, grosss!
It would also be nice to walk around 250 in the off-season for when i start competing in bodybuilding. Then cut down to around 220 totally shredded. We’ll see how the rest of the year goes and I will keep you all posted!
Best of luck to everyone!

Well, Ihad my first out of 4 finals this morning. I think I did pretty good considering it was one of the worst classes I’ve ever taken, anthropology of health and illness. Blahhhhh! Good thing I only have one final each day and I’m done and will be heading home Thursday. Thank god. It will end my junior year of college at WVU, one more year!!!!
Anyways, today is my last squat workout before my powerlifting comp Saturday in Gordonsville, VA near Charlottesville. So damn excited for this on! This will be a full power meet, which consists of squat, bench, and deadlift. This will be the second ever full power meet I will have competed in. My first one was Worlds, back in November of 08. I set a new VA state record by squatting 435, benching 347, and deadlifting 535, totalling 1317.2 was the actual amount, as it was converted from kilos.
Now I have my sights set on breaking the World record 400lb bench in the 242lb weight class and junior division (ages 20-24) that was set in 03. My best lift in the gym is 370 and competition best is 350. I feel strong enough to get close to 390. We will see how it goes on Saturday.
Wish me luck everyone and I will let all know how it goes!!!

WOW!!!! It was October 31st, one day before Worlds and I was sooo psyched, that I wanted to lift then!!! I arrived at my hotel around 4:10pm, so I had was able to relax until weigh-ins started at 4:30. Lucky for me, my hotel was 1.5 miles away from the YMCA where the weigh-ins/competition took place.
I weighed in at 232.8, competing in the 242 lb class for the first time. Yet again, this is only my third comp so far. Anyways, stopped by Sheetz on the way back to grab some food, haha. Then at 8, about two hours after I ate the food from Sheetz, I was originally heading to a steakhouse, but I found this really cool restautrant/bar right next to my hotel that I didn’t even noticed….So I ordered,i cant exactly remember the name, but it was two chicken breasts with melted cheese, some wild rice, and green beans. Not bad, but I couldn’t eat it all because my belt was so tight around my waist, from bulking, I just couldnt finish…
Then I got back to my hotel, hopped in the shower, then relaxed until it was time for bed…..I woke up at 7:30 am to check out and got eat some breakfast because I had to get to the Y before 8:30 to get my rack height for the squats. They shitty thing is is that the comp didn’t even start until 10:30 or so, as it was scheduled to begin at 9:30.
I was in the third flight, of three, so I had a ways to go until I had to get ready. It wasn’t until two hours til I had to go warm up. I warmed up with 135X5, 225X5, 275X5, then 315X5. I felt pretty good. Didnt want to burn out, so I decided to head back to the gym to check out the rest of the second flight….Originally I was going to open with 401.5 or so. I hate the kilos, but whatever. I decided to lower it to 385, just so I can get it easy and build the momentum.
I was so fired from taking NO-Shotgun, I wanted to lift NOW!!!! I was pacing back and forth and around in cirlces because I cant stand in one place when I’m so hyped!! I had an ammonia capsule on my ear the sniff before I went to lift. Iwas chalking up waiting for the head judge, Prez of 100% Paul Bossi, to say, "bar is loaded." I broke that caspule, marched up to the bar so f***ing intense, got into my grove, stepped back, looked up at the judge to get the "squat" command, took a breath, and squatted in one motion below parallel and back up with ease. Three white lights!!!!385 was perfect!! Next I went for 423 or so, dont remember the exact kilos. Went through the same routine, marched up to the bar, and easier then 385, I nailed ~423!! For my third attempt I went for 435.4, which would be a new PR. My max squat in the gym was 425…Piece of cake and a new PR!!!! I was so stoked!!!
There was about 2.5 hours until I was up for bench due to the amount of lifters. When the second flight was starting their second attempt, I headed to the gym to warm up. 135X10, 185X6, 225X5, 275X2. Feeling strong! I had to take some more NO-Shotgun to get hyped because the first dose, 1.5 scoops, had already warn off. I opened with 314.something. Not used to using kilos. I pressed that up pretty easy. Next, I was going for ~330.something. Nailed that with ease. Last attempt I was shooting for 347.2, which would be another PR. PR as of now was 330 in the gym. Chalked up my hands, sniffed the ammonia, got my placement on the bench, brought it down pretty quick, waited for the "press" command, and threw that $h!t up pretty easy. I felt I could have done more, but hey, and new PR and 6 for 6 in the comp so far.
Deadlift was the last lift of the competition. Again, I had to wait for about 2.5 hours before it was time to warm up… I went into the gym adn warmed up with 135X10, 225X6, 315X4, 405X1. Feeling strong for this last lift of Worlds! Had to take more NO-Shotgun because it had worn off again. So now I have taken 3 days worth of NO-Shotgun, haha. Went through my pacing routine again psyching myself up. Chalked up with the ammonia right there, took a sniff, and nailed my opener of 501.5. Next, I was shooting for 523.9, which would basically tie my PR. Paced around, tightened up my belt, the same exact routine as squat and bench, except I dont wear a belt to bench. Anyways, I was going for 534.6, which would equal a thrid PR on the day. Was so psyched, there was no way I wouldn’t get this lift. Walked up the the bar, got my grip just right, tokk about four or five breaths, looked up and picked that up like it was just the bar. Nailed all nine of my lifts, 9 for 9!!!!! 3 New PRs!!! I was soooo f***ing excited!! I felt I could’ve lifted more than what I did on my final attempts, but I’m not complaining!
I totalled 1317.2 lbs, surpassing my goal of 1300!! Yessss!!! 1st place in juniors for 242 in my first comp lifting in 242! Awesome!!! I have improved each competition and I see no end in sight!!! I will continue to train my @$$ off in the gym, eating the right foods and taking the best supplements that work for me, until my next competition, which won’t be until some time in ‘09. Until then, train hard, stay strong, and stay drug free! If I can do it, so can you!

Today was Nationals in Annapolis for the 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation. There was a great crowd. Over 100 spectators and around 30 lifters. This was my 2nd powerlifting competition.
I competed in the Junior division (20-24) @ 220lbs. I set a new PB on Bench - 325 lbs. and on Deadlift - 524 lbs. Curls I got 142 which isn’t my best, but hey, I set two new PBs so Im not complaining. The lifts were in kilos then converted to pounds.
I placed 1st in Bench and Curls and placed 2nd in Deadlift. Not bad competing for only the second time. I also hold the National record for Curls in the Junior division @ 220 - 150 lbs.
The commaraderie was awesome yet again. Everyone was rooting for everyone the way it should be. Everyone was psyched which made it an extraordinary atmosphere to be in.
I have Worlds in November up in Hagerstown, MD. If anyone is near there and would like to check it out, drop me something on my page and I’ll be more than happy to give you the info. I’ll keep everyone posted on my progress over the next 5 months leading up to Worlds!

Wow, I haven’t written a blog in so long…Anyways, today was my deadlift/back workout, the usual Friday. My last deadlift workout before my first ever powerlifting meet next Saturday, April 26th. I’ll be competing for 100% Raw in the 220 lb class.
I warmed up with 135, then added a 45 on each side each set. I was working up to my opener, which was going to be 455, but I got 455 really easy and my friend Matt suggested I try 475 and see how that feels. Again, I got 475 easily, which is my personal best lift up to that point. The next set, I attempted 500, which would be a new personal best. Damn!!!!! I was slow getting it up past my knees, but once I cleared my knees, it was good from there. A new personal best lift!!!!!!500!!!!! I attempted 515, but could not get it off the ground.
After I was done with deads, I did 4 sets of rows, lat pulldowns, standing pressdowns to my stomach squeezing my lats (sort of hard to explain), and then back extensions. After I finished my work out, I went to grab something to eat, then headed back to my apartment. But first, I had to fill up the tank and check the oil. I am driving down to Virginia Tech to visit my cousin who is a freshman there, and my sister, who is visiting from Charlotte. Of course, not until I get in my last workout where I will work up to my opener for bench. I’ll let you all know how everything goes!!

I hated this summer. I had to work all the time and rarely had time to lift, consistently. Also, i couldnt eat as much as i did when i was lifting at school (WVU), so i dropped weight and lost a lot of my strength as well.
Now I’m down to 209 and trying to gain my strength back before summer started back in May.
Wish me luck!

Wow, what an amazing workout I had yesterday. 2nd day back lifting at my high school after my first year of college completed at WVU.
It was back day and I was psyched. Just took my Animal Pump at home before I drove up to the school. Couldn’t wait to get in there and lift. I first warmed up with some pullups and lat pulldowns, then stretched out my back further before I started my deadlifts.
I always warmup with 135, then 225, then 315. Now’s time to join the big boys, haha. Loading up the bar, 405. I usually pumped out 2 good reps at this weight. My max up to this point is 430 I believe.
I’m going for it all, put on 455 a new max record if I get it. I had the middle school kids watching me this time because they usually lift at the high school after school, just like I did in 7th and 8th grade. One of the coaches, Coach Jones, always cracks jokes which is hilarious. Anyways I got 455 easier than I thought. I was feeling good so I decided to put on a 5 on each side and go for 465.
Now everyone in the enitre weight room stopped what they were doing to watch me go for it. My boy Josh, who kicks for NC State, some of the high school "children" haha, and the middle school kids and Coach Jones. I was going through my routine everytime I deadlift. Now it’s time to lift this f*ckin weight! I got it just above my knees, scrapping it against my thighs because there was no way in hell I was dropping this until it was a legit lift. I had my back extended making the lift legit, then just dropped that $h!t right back to where I picked it up from. My job was done!
Then I went to barbell rows, some back extensions, and other exercises to work my back, then it was time to go home and chill the rest of the day.
Everyone at the school , friends, former highschool classmates that are still in hs, and coaches can’t get over my strength and size. I like the attention when everyone stops what they’re doing to watch you. I love it!!! HAHA

This is my post workout blog, although it’s way after my workout, haha.
Warming up with the lat pulldowns and the pull-ups helped loosen and warm my back up. Stretching too helped out a lot. Started of the DLs with 135, pumping out 12 easy reps. Then on to 10 easy reps of 225. Moving on up to 315, pumping out 6 good reps. Then it was time for the big weights, 405. I got a solid 2 reps at that weight. Now my PR max at the time was 430, so I decided to take a shot at 455. I got psyched up, taking my time so I can manage the weight. I got ready, lifted that $h!t, but when I got right at knee level, the weight wouldn’t budge.
I almost had it, 455, more weight than I thought I could lift, haha. I gave another shot at it, but the weight wouldn’t move off the ground. I was pissed off, but I tried moving up 25 lbs. Not many people gave move up 25 lbs in a lift withing a short time period. Well I’m, determined to get it within the next two back workouts.
After DLs were over, moved onto bent over BB rows. Pumped out some good reps at 135, 225, and a new max 315. After a few more back exercises, I moved onto biceps and forearms, making them burn during and after my workout.
Now I can relax now that the workout was over. Got some food, ate that, then I had to do some damn work. God, I can’t wait til I’m done with school.

This is my pre-back workout post.
First off, I can’t wait til all this school stuff is voer, so I can have a break for 3 months. Can’t wait til next Fri when it’s all over. I have so much $h!t to do tonight and tomorrow, I’ll be lucky to get to sleep by 2 am. Ughh!!!
Well I plan on warming up with lat pulldowns and pull-ups to warm up my back. Then it’s time to go for a new max DL, hopefully. Then comes some BB rows and then misc. back exercises. I’ll try to fit in some hamstrings and forearms.
I will let you all know how it goes when I’m done working out!

Making progress day by day. To start off my chest workout, I warmed up with flat bench/flyes with 80, getting my blood flowing. After a couple sets of those, i went up to 90, then 100. Now it was time for bench press. Warmed up with 135, continuing to stretch out the chest and warmup. Then, put on an additional 45, with 225 on the bar. I pumped out 10 reps with that weight, then added a 25, pushing out 3 reps. Now it was time to step up to the plate.
Now last Wednesday, I failed at 315, only getting about halfway up. I was determined to throw it up this time, not letting anything hold me back. Took a piss, walking around stretching my chest and listening to some metal to get me psyched. I was in the zone. Took my spot on the bench, under the bar getting my hands placed the way I like them. Pulled up on the bar like I always before I go for it. Counted out, "1, 2, 3!" for my spotter to help with the lift-off. Had the weight controlled the entire time, pushing that sh!t up and finally got it. "Hell yeah" I was psyched!
Then I moved to incline bench/flyes, then went to cables, then finished off my workout with two calf exercises. My calves were throbbing after I was down, knowing I worked them hardcore. It was time for some food, so I went back to my dorm to get some comidas, haha, and it was time to relax the rest of the night.
