Leg Day…

Well it has been a while since I wrote one of these.  So anyways, today was leg day and I planned on taking it easy because I strained my left groin on friday.  I started by taking it easy on squats on 235 x 12 for 3 sets, but when I got to the leg press I felt strong so I started off with 1080lbs for the first set.  It was easy…  Jumped to 1280lbs…easy…  Loaded up 1400lbs… I hit it 8 times no spot, it was kinda heavy.  After leg press I decided to do walking lunges with 135lbs across my back which was no fun.  So much for taking it easy today.

1000lbs!!!

Well I have been back in the gym for a couple of weeks now and I’m just now progressing past muscle memory after a month off.  All my lifts have been good and I’ve been feeling strong.  Today was leg day after hitting a good couple sets of squats I went and hit up leg press with felt good so I started hitting heavy sets.  On my last set I slid two 5 pounders on the rack to make it and even 1000lbs.  I was planning on just repping out three just to say a repped a thousand.  I ended up getting four clean and the fifth with a spot.  So whooo hoooo to me!!!  I also happend to rep out 365lbs five times on RDL’s so all and all it was a good leg day…

Finally…

Man it is good to be back in the gym.  I have been out for three weeks now.  It was way longer than I expected, due to having my head split open with a glass mug.  Anyways its now time to start hitting the gym hard and break that plateau I was stuck on.

Movin’ Weight!!!

Today was my favorite day of the week, back day!  I like back day mainly for deadlifts, cuz I consider myself fairly good at this particular exercise.  Anyways, I have been making great gains on this lift for the past month.  I’ve added 10lbs a week since Feb. 19th.  My goal was to hit 500lbs by mid summer and it is shaping up nicely.  Today I said screw it and went for an even 450lbs and knocked it out!!!  So at this rate I should be a little ahead of schedule and on to 600lbs by 2009…

Leg Press

March 14, 2008

Well today was leg day…  Although I didn’t do outstanding on squats I did manage to do my best set of leg press do date.  I managed to put up 900lbs x 4 reps.  I was proud of myself.  Then after three sets of extensions went and did RDL’s.  I just so happened to bust out 275lbs x 8, and two sets of 315lbs x 5.  All and all it was a good workout, but I’m not satisfied with my squatting.  I really need to step it up!!!

Leg day

Well today was leg day, and it went pretty well for the most part.  I put 20lbs more up on squats but with two less reps.  This was a little disapointing, but what made up for it was romanian deadlifting 315lbs for 5 reps.  That is by far the most I’ve ever done.  Woohoo!!!  I’m actually looking foward to my week off coming up.  Its not for another 3 weeks but it can’t come soon enough.

So far this week…

Well first off… Us down here is Tx are having some of the craziest weather in years!  It is snowing outside for the second time this week!!!  And it is supposed to be 75deg on saturday? WTF?! it’s March!!!

 Anyways, I have felt stronger and more focused in the gym than I have in a long while.  I think it is because I have pasted up the muscle memory phase of getting back in the gym from a long break.  It usually takes me a good 3-4 months back till I feel like I’m making signifigant gains again.  I mean every day this week I have been hitting it hard on specific exercises for each muscle as the basis for the workout (ie: bench, deadlift, military press, etc… haven’t got to leg day yet) and I feel as though I’m able to keep doing more.  I have to stop so I don’t over exhaust myself.  So all in all It’s been a good week.  Aside from the weather.

Back in full swing…

So today was the second day of my full routine of "two a days" four times a week, and I just remembered how much cardio sucks!!!  I have not been big on cardio for the past couple of years because of my old job I ran around outside all day so I figured that was good enough.  It’s not the same!!!  Don’t get me wrong once my endurance builds back up I will look foward to it again, but damn that day can’t come soon enough.  I don’t think I did too bad.  I ran a mile HIIT, then biked 3.5 steady in about 25min.  So anyway, Cardio sucks once again, not looking foward to tommorow night’s.

Back Day…

Damn, damn, damn…  my back hurts!  Yea, I know what a poone.  It is my second week back in the gym and I’m going balls to the wall.  I know I’m gonna be hurting.  At least I deadlifted 405lbs on my 4th set, twice!!!  Not to shabby for a guy with twelve vertebrea fused.  Anyways I’ll keep it short, I’m SORE!!! that is all…
