Dropped Out

Didn’t feel I was stage ready in two weeks for my first attempt at doing a show. I lost too much weight too fast and had a lot of tightening up to do. Also I could only get down to around 10-12% BF in 18 weeks from 21% I started at. Overall I am very pleased with what I accomplished in 2008 so far and these last 20 weeks I have learned more than I ever thought possible….

1. I learned my body first and foremost. I know what works and what doesn’t and I know what I would do different next time.

2. I learned that I can push myself harder than I ever imagined. Between dieting and hours of cardio a day I know I can do it again and harder.

3. And the most important thing I learned is that I have amazing friends, family and the most wonderful girlfriend I could ask for. The support for me they all showed was incredible and unexpected. From the advice of friends who hve competed and won (Brian and Andrew especially, with dieting/cardio and mental support everyday and teaching me posing), to all my family waiting around to see if I would compete (to book hotels and trravel to WV) and understanding I need to bring my own food to family functions and not give me shit for it and to my girlfriend who kept me sane throughout dieting down and pushing me in the gym. She never needed to do cardio like I did 12 weeks out (because she looks ****ing amazing and is a goddess) but made it every single morning at 5am to do cardio with me and push me when she was at that point looking like she could compete within 4 weeks at most!

 I have a great support cast yet I feel I let myself and all the above down in a way and I’m sorry for that. Yes I made the first step but in the words of Lou Ferrigno ,"I’m not satisfied…I wanna beat em!"

 I am starting my bulking now until January 2nd. I am actually going to follow the AD again but for bulking and keep my cardio up everyday. I AM going to compete and my goal for 2009 is to be ready for competition in April and win my weight class. All this work I put in will not go to waste as I am highly motivated and will not rest until I accomplish that goal. Again thank you to all my supporters throughout you have meant the workld to me and I look at all of you in a new respect. Thank you for all the comments everyone left as well and to the few haterz out there go **** yourself and keep fueling my fire mother****ers!

 I will try and BLOG on here throughout and give monthly updates just for my records and if you feel like leaving anything feel free.

Week 11 of 20

My posing is night and day even from last week. I am now working both sides for posing and holding them for 10 seconds a piece. Also, learned how to relax my back for front/back relaxed. I was having trouble with rear lat spread but its evident from pics that I am pickingup on them now.

 Abs are coming in better and I’m def looking leaner. Scale has stayed the same not too concerned. As far as diet goes, I have added a little more fats eating 1 teaspoon of PB after every meal as a way to slow down digestion and experimenting all this week with that to see if I am getting enough calories and fats.

 My workouts are going really well. Ever since 2 weeks ago when I started the controlled labs products I have seen significant increase in pumps, vascularity and strength  (315×5 on bench). I am getting pushed hard 4 days a week with Sarah nto letting me settle for 12 reps and pushing through 15 and on legs day with Brian he is really pushing me through making sure I get my heavy weights in as well. I have a great supporting group. He also works on posing with me and maybe this week I’ll actually pose with Sarah (scared haha).

 Now I’m coming through the home stretch and this will be my last week with shitty foods as the last 8 weeks will be even more strict than now. I will play it by mirror each week to assess. Any input or criticisms would be helpful. Please tear me apart if I need it, it will only motivate me more to do what I need to do. I don’t wanna hear I’m fat and thats it. I want to hear what I should do to improve though if thats the case. Anyways until next week happy lifting….maybe I’ll watch pumping iron for some extra motivation this weekend haha.

Week 10 of 20

Friday, July 4th, 2008

This week I started lifting heavier in all lifts except for legs which I will harder on my second leg day on Sunday. Surprised myself on deadlift getting 10 reps with 405 but hell if my traps still aren’t paying for it! Chest blew up nice this week and fata round the bottom chest is slowly dissapearing. Leg day i did 2 sets of 50 reps with 3 plates on a side then did 30 reps with 5 plates on a side and finished with 7 plates ona  side for 12. Next day my legs looked really good and full with upper thigh popping out with more side glute definition. Shoulders are capping off nice at the top. I was little lax in my posing this week but plan on buying a bog mirror to practice at home when I need to get outta the gym. Been posing 3 rds EOD this week.

 

As far as diet goes this was the first week in which I have craved carbs or weird foods. Who the hell craves peanut butter and graham crackers. I haven’t even eaten that snack since like 1st grade. I’m also craving burgers with the bun of course and reeses cups(Thanks for making that re-enter my mind again Sarah! ;) -). I haven’t been hungry at all though. I cut out  alot of fats and am basically on pure protein with an extra dosage of EFAs 6000mg fish oil and 5200mg evening primrose oil now.

 I have not lost more than 1 pound in the last 2 weeks but I keep getting observations from people that say I look more vascular and ripped than even last week. I guess thats a good thing. I also almost forgot I just started taking NO,Creatine and Purple Wrath as directed by my workout partner, and I have been pleasently surprised by how I feel and look. Wasn’t much of a supplement guy until now…WOW!

 Cardio was stepped up to 60 min daily sometimes a little more depending on time. Next week 65minutes daily 5-6 times week. Remember I do 6 days of weights with 2 legs days so 5 in my opinion shoudl be enough.

 As far as other things the training is going well and I’m getting pushed really hard and getting reminders that "I’m a little bitch" when I start slacking during a workout at all haha. I have a great support group of Brian, Sarah, Dennis and Egg Roll, and things are looking up thus far. Now if I can just keep up with abs I’ll be well on my way.

Week 9 of 20

Friday, June 27th, 2008
Been slacking on the BLOG but I’ve been inspired to get back on it and write down weekly notes (thanks “DQ” you know who you are ;) )

My weight has hovered around the 213-215 mark for 2 weeks. Had a minor set back going into 12 weeks out with a wedding. My diet allows carbs but I may have over did it a little with wedding cake and dinner and a little booze (zero carb but i’m sure it still convereted some to sugars). Stepped up my cardio to 55 minutes a day and will continue to add 5 minutes weekly. I am starting NO and creatine now and am being very strict in my diet being 11 weeks out. I have a new workout partner and she pushes me to the limits and it helps she also competes and will be competing same day as me (different event…bummer) but it works and I’m glad we are doing this together!

 I started working on my posing the last 3 days twice a day 2 rounds. A little shakey on the biceps but I have noticed more seperation even after 3 days in my legs and abs. Is that normal? Alright well thats it for now checkout the pics and let m eknow what you think. Be honest I know I’m still fat in some areas.

Week 5 of 20

My bodyfat is around the same at this point but I lost an additional 3 pounds so I went from 238 down to 219 in four and half weeks. I have been told my size has stayed the same except for my waist and my cuts are getting deeper in my legs and back. Ab region is slowly coming in betyter every week. Hopefully by 10 weeks out the are completely there but who knows. Been very pleased and I’m getting a ton of comliments on my physique so far, especially my back and calves and chest. I would like to get down to 215 by next post and drop another % or two I will only be doing bodyfat every other week with the digital pinchers I recently bought.

Week 4 of 20

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

The diet is still working at 2500 calories. Stronger than ever and losing fat. Started 238 now 222 at 15.5% BF. Things are getting better. Shrinking waist from the side although still holding fat in the frontal plane. Cardio is the same 40 minutes before brekafast. I experimented last weekend with taking in some sugars but I think I was too careful and didn’t even spike my insulin. I’m going to try the old handfull of jelly beans and see hwo my body responds on this type of carb load/shock. The rest of my meals will be brown rice,sweetpotato and oats.

Week 3 of 20

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

This is my 18th day of dieting down and I just hit 225 from 238 in that short period while losing 4% fat down to 16.5% according tot he bio-impedane bf tester. I have kept size on and started my supplementation with BCAAs in every drink and taking 10g glutamine in my afternoon shake. Taking 3000mg fish oils and 2600mg evening primose oil along with tribulus. My first carb weekend was great consuming 160g carbs so this weekend I am going to bump it to 200-225g and see what happens. Switching my leg day to Mon to take advantage of the carb load since my leg days take so much out of me. Cuts are coming in better and veins are popping up eveywhere. I have asome nasty ones on my legs and calves as well as arms. Abs are peaking though but nothing definative just yet. cardio was pbumped to 40 minutes this week before eating and 2500 cal diet is in plac adn will ride this out as long as possible. Nervous with how much time it will take to get down but I was assured by my training buddy that everything is going smooth thus far and to keep plugging away.

Week 2 of 20

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

My body is craving carbs bad but my energy is pretty good. I’m on the Anabolic Diet and this is day 11. Saturday and Sunday I get my fix of carbs. I will be eating sweet potato, 2 servings of rice, rice cakes and oatmeal with my last meal havig 0 carbs in it. I need to see how my body reacts to carbs after completely depleting my glycogen storage. I am down to 229 from 238 in 11 days and my cardio is at 35 minutes this week as apposed to 30 last week. Diet has dropped from 3500 cal to 3000 and next week I will either stay or goto 2700 depending on how I look Sunday after eating carbs. Most of the fat loss so far is in my back and love handle area and have gone from 19.8% to 16.9% according to the bioelectrical impedence BF% tool at the gym. Yeah don’t put too much stock in that but once i lean up I wil have someone check my BF accurately.

Week 1 of 20

Pics taken 5/1/2008 and I will update them every Th or Fri up until contest time. Sitting at 5′10" 235 in the pics posted 1/20 Weeks. My posing sucks but i will start getting them down June 1st once I lose BF and get jacked up. Very excited to see what turns out.  BTW my pics are under the progress and goals section right now!
