When did the gym become social hour?

I was at the gym today and I found myself wondering when going to the gym became just another place to socialize. First of all, I am not a huge fan of big gyms, especially since Terry’s place is small and intimate - you can work out without people on the machines you want or feel like you’re being watched. So being in the gym today, (Terry took the day off).

I was there for just about 35 minutes and the entire time I was there, this young girl stood and talked to a guy the whole time. She didn’t work out once! Too funny. I am not crazy hardcore, but I also don’t like to be bothered too much when I am in the gym. I’m there to do my thing and get out. I really don’t like to be stopped and spoken to either. I want to get the most of my workout but not stay there forever! So anyway, that’s today’s subject!

When you find a gym that ISN"T like that or worse, you let me know!! There getting worse and worse. Most have made rules to even subdue the type of bodybuilding atmosphere that has made them noteable in the first place. It takes almost all the intensity of your workout when you have to move around those that would better be at the water cooler back in the office. Start dropping heavy weights on them and see how long they stick around. Jstkdng.

I’ve only had that happen to me once… the guy that was talking to me would just NOT shut up for like 20 mins…

Thank god most of the time I go to the gym there are only 3 people there at the most (I go just before lunch) and they tend to stay away from the free weights :D

It can be annoying sometimes, but as long as they are not bothering me its all good.

Nothing wrong with a quick hello either

freaking hillarious! i soooooo hear you! i hate that! that’s why i walk around w/ an iron face, because if i smile-people take that as an open invite to chat! i’m NOT about that! i talk 2 3 boys, that’s it and they are all sweeties and help me by spotting me, but when i’m focused, they do NOT bother me! so that is the good thing! i see girls and guys alike do it! its like, look if you want a new piece of ass, go to the bar or club..but please, stop taking up space! you know..or..how ’bout the person who gags on their cell phone while working otu! give me a break!
