Just found out that my wife and I will be having a baby boy! I would have loved to have a little girl but something about having a boy has really got me pumped up. Maybe it’s the thought of passing my knowledge on to him that will help him excel in sports. Knowledge that I didn’t know when I was growing up. Woohoo I will be able to retire early. (All fathers dreams, LOL)

Just need to vent a little. But after watching with my wife on the discovery channel, (yes I took some time to sit in front of the TV lol) I was at a loss for words. The show was dealing with a teenage boy who had been deemed super morbidly obese. He was at risk of every health condition related to his weight ( stroke, diabetes, etc.) His family opted to go for "fat-loss" surgery fo him (I believe it was getting his stomach stapled). After the surgery they are all sitting at the dinner table where his mom is talking about not letting his son die. Doing whatever it takes. Guess what they were eating…..PIZZA. He had a plate full along with a big o glass of soda. Not quite what I would think to be the best for you when your health is such at risk.
Now I am not getting mad at this kid but the parents. Their son could die at a young age if they don’t help him change his eating habits. Then they showed him at school with a big o candy bar. I was done after that. I actually got up and left the room.
Maybe this bugs me more because of my job. I see this all the time and hear about all the diets that are out there from the guys I work with. Maybe because I have been on both sides, being unhealthy and overweight and now living a much healtier and rewarding life. Sorry for venting everybody, but just feel like I can’t help my clients unless I am there to hold their hand and help them make wiser decisions.
Thanks

Just finished taking a month off from lifting. Had to let my body heal up a bit from football season. Ended up being second in the league in TD receptions, so that felt good knowing that I plan on being even faster and stronger next season.
Shoulder is doing really well. Only bothers me every once in a while. Want to really bring up my core strength and improve on my flexibility over the next couple of months. Also will be getting back on a stricter diet as I try to sink below double digit body fat.
Goals are set. Time to get back to work.

Best news I could have hoped for! I got the green light to start lifting again with my shoulder on Monday. Slowly but surely I am working my way back up. My buddies were having some fun at my expense for the first couple of days though. "Do you need a spot for that?" (Barbell bench press with no plates) Haha very funny guys. Still recovery very quickly from my injury so I am being very careful not to rush it. At the same time I am not babying my shoulder either. My physical therapist says I should be back 100% in four weeks.

6 more weeks until I can really start lifting again upper body. Freaking killing me. I have full range of motion with very little pain, so I will admit it has been tempting to try to lift. Luckily I have my workout partner that will yell at me if I do try(lol). Oh well, I am still lifting lower body and picking up on my cardio in the mean time.

Already getting into active ROM for my shoulder. This is 2 weeks ahead of where I should be so things are definetly looking positive. Will admit it is hard to try and take it easy on it though. I hate not going full speed. SOON!

Well looks like I will be on the shelf for a little while. Tore up my shoulder playing in an over thirty basketball league. (Actually just got a call from the hospital and found out that I have a Grade 3 A-C joint separation) Out of all the leagues I play in, I get hurt in the "old mans" league lol. Anyways I have an appointment with ortho tomorrow morning so hopefully will get some good news out of this (i.e. no surgery). If anyone has suffered this before and has any advice, plese let me know.

I am so pumped for tomorrow! I get to workout again with my wife. You see Sunday is the only day I get to workout with her because of her schedule during the week. It feels so great to be able to spend that time with her and show her new things that she used to be scared to try. Just to see her reaction after she does a routine and knowing that I help her get through it makes it that much more satifying. I told her after she graduates from her massage school in May that I want her to be my workout partner during the week as well. I think she can push me that much harder because she knows what I am trying to do and also I will be able to help her with her goals. I also think it will bring us even closer than we already are by that added support you get in a gym. Maybe I can talk her into starting her own bodyspace when she feels she is ready.

Tried something a little new today from a suggestion. Worked only on my arms and found that I was able to achieve a much more intense pump. It was great My arms were just burning. Definitely going to keep routine this in my workout rotation.

Nothing like a good back and bicep workout at 530 in the morning. Ok I admit I had to force myself to lift that freaking early in the morning but had to make sure I had to recover in time for my b-ball game (Lost in overtime DAMN!) Finally feeling my body recover from being dehydrated on Tuesday so should have a really good leg day tomorrow.
