My History
I have never done anything like this before, so here it goes. I started working out in high schoolas part of our gym class. I never really took that serious though. I was more interested in sports, than I was the whole iron game. Which as it turns out, had I been more diligent in the gym, I could have excelled farther in my sport ambitions. So to make a long atory short that is where it started and where it ended.
After graduation, I pretty much did not do a damn thing but sit on my ass and party it up woth the crew I grew up with. At that time, I was a mere 176 lbs. not too much to me really. We got into alot of fights and what not and eventually got into trouble with the law. That was until fate stepped in and kicked me square it the mouth. It was 13Jan01, I spent yet another night in drunken bliss, when I decided it was time to go home. I really don’t remember to many details, other than the fact that I T-boned a semi only 3 miles from my house. I broke my left collar bone in half anf had a prety good concusion. Four months later I was arrested for the incident and served my time and paid all my fines.
This is where the change for me begins. I finally realized that I was not superman and I needed to taker better care of myself. I was married at the time and have three beautiful children. To think that I could have lost it all due to alcohol. I pulled my head out of my ass and decided to get a gym membership to better myself. The rest you could say is history now. I have been pretty regular about the gym, except when I was unable to go due to injury. In the past 4 years I have had surgery on my right ashoulder to repair torn tendons and ligaments, I snapped my right hamstring while playing softball, and a few other injuries along the way. Add to that the deployment rotation I am on and it is difficult to keep a routine going. But I push on, keep my eye on the ball and do what is neccesary.
As I type this out, I am on another deployment, this one being the lonhest thus far. I have been in the gym on average 6 days a week. Withthe eception of a one week lay off to recover from a sprained ankle. It is slow getting back into the routine, but I will succeed in my goals. I havea few months left and plan on going back to my kids and my BabyGirl, better than I was when I left. So we will see what happens in the months to come. All I know is that I am addicted to the gym now, and aint shit going to interfer with it again. Besides, with the extra attention I get from my girl ,I would be a fool to relapse. So this is the start to the new me, stay tuned for more details…..
