Do I work Here?

February 16, 2009

I have been going to the same gym for about 2 years now and have gotten to know the staff that works there very well, including the manager. I have gotten to know some of the gym rats as well, and they make me feel like I have a second home when I am there. It makes for working out there even more fun. Until yesterday…

I am a hardcore trainer, I don’t talk to much when I set foot on the gym floor. It is like another side of me takes over. All the people know me are aware of this and leave me to my buisness. Once I am in the lobby then I will chat with anyone and chill for a few. I have no problems with someone coming up and asking me a quick question or to give them a spot real quick on the floor…I mean I am a nice guy, I am no jerk. All though today was something totaly different. I was about 15 min into my routine and a woman approached me and asked if I could spot here on the bench. She said that the manager and staff could not spot her for insurance purposes, and that they directed her to me and i would help her. So being the nice guy that I am I was more than willing. We got through her sets and she made small talk between sets and then thanked me and moved on. OK back to work….NOT! After about another 10 min another person came up to me and asked if she could ask me some questions about her training routine she is trying to start and if I had a min. "The girl at the desk said you know your stuff and that you wouldn’t mind." Ok now I am getting just a bit aggravated, but again the nice guy I am, I helped her for 20 min! I had a whole routine and diet plan worked out with her. So back to my sets…..no no not quite. I had some guy come up to me and ask me for a good arm workout. Apparently one of the trainers said I crush my arms and I would be a good person to get a great routine for arms from….I had enough, I took the guy through my whole arm routine and said if you can lift a 25lb dumbell tomorrow you can lift with me anytime…(I didn’t see hime today). So I finished my workout that took me almost 2 hours to get through, it normaly takes 45 min!! So I went to the front desk and I said to the manager "Do I work her now!?!?!" She laughed and asked what I ment, I explained to her my problem and she simply said "well your like one of us we thought you wouldn’t mind, your in here all the time and everyone likes you." So I said fine I will expect my check on Friday, and walked out. Now was I out of line? I mean come on I had 3 people get sent to me during my workout for help, why am I doing there job for them, what are they getting paid for. What you think???
