Hang in there, I know some supps effect your BP so you might have to stay off of them but your eating and workouts shoudn’t be effected.

Keep at it, I’d say. I’ve had high cholestoral all my adult life, since my 1st physical BEFORE I went into the Navy. I’ve tried a few meds, all with side effects I wasn’t willing to live with.

All your other risk factors are good, with healthy your lifestyle. Plus you’re young. Go for it. If I had your physique & was at your age, I would.

Many things can affect blood pressure. I’m an ICU RN and I can tell you that one reading at one appt does not constitute high blood pressure. 3 readings taken at different appts all have to be high to equal the condition. If you were excited about something, stressing, if the BP cuff they used was too small, you had just worked out, even if you were just nervous about the bp reading, all would elevate your BP. If it happens again, take a few deep breaths and ask that the measurement be taken again. My first measurement was 153/90 but my doc said relax and take a few deep breaths and he took it a minute later and it was 136/78. Still high but a very large drop in such a short time. Now that I’m more relaxed with him my readings are in the one teens. You may very well have high BP, but I’d get more info, more readings, and make sure nothing in my life could be affecting it before getting all worked up about it. And check out your supp side effects. Take care

Why should high blood pressure keep you from BBing? First I would go to Walmart and test myself a couple more times just to be sure of the reading. Also, the diet of the BB is THE diet against high blood pressure, so you’re already in the best track. Your transformation is amazing, keep at it!

welcome to my world Eliajh. for me a visit to the doc always is a bit of bad news. you see, i have a thing about myself that my life is short, real short. and that i am one day closer to it and tha is a fact to me. i am dying and i can;t so anything about it. so be gald that it’s just high blood pressure in your case man. live man live everyday like it’s your last, for me that is sooo true!!

  6. tina1920 Says:

Hugs;) First of all. Now you can do BBing. You may have to re-evaluate diet and training but anything is possible. Consult your doctor and get the advice of a certified nutritionist. You can do this, it will just take a little adjusting.

I had the same issue in the Army when I was 21. It lasted for about 1 year and went away. Docs had no idea why. I wish you luck.

Sorry to hear that bro…I feel nothing good ever comes from going to medical…they tried to put me on a waiver this morning from everything i had to fight to only make the waiver for lifting more then 10lbs with my legs. But hang in there bro, you will be just fine!!!!

    Hang tight. You’re not alone.

  10. Mrsstanpoe Says:

you should look into Kombucha Tea… it is an amazing drink that really helps with MANY ailments, high blood pressure being one. Also, cactus is good for high blood pressure. Holistic meds.

  11. JeepDoc Says:

Hey big guy, you hang in there no reason to fret, I know many a guys who have this issue and can still do whatever they want. Maybe its stress, maybe its something your taking, but the fact of the matter is your still pretty damn healthy brother. If we can have SEALs with worse jump out of planes daily, I am sure you can throw a little weight around.

  12. BrandyTKO Says:

High BP can be hereditary. Even if you are healthy and eat well, you will have a propensity for it. Don’t quit what you are doing though. You know the stuff, keep down the salt intake, alcohol and get your cardio in. It all helps. My husband has it and it is not vascular related it is an out of whack adreneline issue and there isn’t a thing he can do about it physically, it just is what it is. More cardio for him helps, plus not getting too stressed out in general. Eat your Omega 3’s too as it keeps your bad cholesterol down which is never a bad thing. KEEP DOING YOUR THANG! Can you imagine what your BP would be like if you were not fit?

  13. ozworknprogress Says:

there can be many reasons for blood pressure, time of day recent food eaten. If you are taking any pre training supplements the caffiene in them could be the cause. And even your own stress levels will effect it

    Read this:

Seriously, I have seen this work on many people. High blood pressure was normal in 60 days or less.
    good luck.

  15. dman12 Says:

Being a heart patient with hypertension, let me say all of the comments are accurate, but , if you are hypertensive I would encourage you to continue with your fitness goals.
However I will say that I will bet you dollars to donuts that there are more people on this site that are suffering from hypertension or borderline and don’t have a clue, so consider yourself fortunate that you know or waiting to know. Best of luck!

  16. PhxSwimGuy Says:

Hey Eliajh, I saw this and wanted to give support. Be sure to be your own best advocate, and do research so you can work with your Docs. I agree with the RN above multiple readings are good. In the same line of thinking, there is what is called white coat hypertension–it’s a situational rise in BP. I’ve also seen info on hardening of the arteries being one cause of higher BP…and there are things nutritionally that can help that. Just something to think about since effects are often what doctors treat sometimes missing the cause.
