It’s On
My surgery is scheduled fro November 4th. Unfortunately i am going to be put to sleep. At first i was terrified but I am feeling more and more confident as the days go on. I found a lump(?) in my side a couple of months ago so I am going to have it removed as well as some loose skin from abs. I am also going to have my abs tightened.
I started seeing a therapist after the birth of my younger son a few years ago because I thought I had postpartum depression (turns out I was just exhausted). I think everyone deserves a therapist like mine. I always feel more self-assured when I see her
. At my appointment yesterday we discussed things that calm me. She is going to make me a "guided visualization" CD and focus on the positive outcome of my surgery, healing, and ways to calm myself.
I am excited to see my results and can’t wait to feel confident in and out of clothes. I will finally be able to see what my lifting and cardio have produced (other than loose skin).
Anybody have any advice about surgery? If so, I’d love to hear it.

Sounds like a relatively minor procedure. I wouldn’t worry about it at all.
I’m sure your progress pictures will be rockin when it’s all over with.
You’ll just have to change your screen name.

Hi Katie… it sounds like you are having abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to get rid of the loose skin and tighten up the ab muscles that have separated. Are they taking enough skin that you have to have a new belly button?
When I was pregnant with my first child I gained 72 pounds and had an emergency c-section and then lost all 72 pounds in less than 6 weeks. I had a LOT of loose skin that no amount of exercising or time fixed. I had to have a kidney surgery about 7 years ago and asked them if I could have a tummy tuck at the same time. My general surgeon agreed and I only paid for the added cost of the cosmetic procedure. It will be the best thing you have ever done!
Recovery takes about 2 weeks. You won’t be able to stand upright for a few days and you will feel the pulling from the wire in your ab muscles for a long time. It’s not painful, just feels weird. Try as hard as you can to walk around as much as possible and go off of the pain meds except for tylenol as quickly as you can.
If your doctor okays it, start taking Traumeel, Arnica Montana, Bromelain, and curcumin after the surgery…. all of those will help with healing and keep the bruising down. For the scar I used emu oil and the doctor was amazed at how fast and well my scar healed. The scars never go away and if you look at my progress pics you can still see them. But my scarring is VERY minimal compared to some I have seen.
Drink lots and lots of water, and make sure to get up and move around. Your healing will happen a lot faster. Trust me, I have had 6 kidney surgeries, a c-section, two hernia surgeries, and a few other minor surgeries so I know what I am talking about!
Other supplements to speed healing would be CoQ10, Colostrum, and fish oil.
Send me a PM if you have any questions! Everything will be fine!!
