Well I decided to stay with my mom in the hospital. This doesn’t excuse me from heathly living. In fact, it inspires me to the highest heights of health.
This is what I’ve done so far.
1. Walked from Chelsea Whole Food Market (one cup of coffee with organic whole milk and one packet of honey) to 53rd and Lexington Avenue to get the staff jitney. I refuse to pay for the subway when I can walk. Saturday I’ll be bringing my bicycle.
2. took two powerwalk breaks. The second one I did a little running.
3. I climbed the steps of Memorial Sloan and was having a near death experience at the 12th floor. I don’t care how much I can do at the gym. It’s nothing like real life except for the step mill. I went up 16 floors till I got to the roof exit and went back down to the elevator.
As for diet, this has been easy because anything ‘rich’ requires a kingly sum in NYC. I brought most of my food in, rice from a ricecooker, fresh juice, boiled eggs, carrot pulp from the juice machine. Tomorrow will be more challenging since I’m staying overnight and don’t have any extra food. I got a lentil soup and some salad from the hospital cafeteria. I’m not counting calories per se but I’m keeping an eye on intake of rich foods and staying away from the dessert case.
