Major Depression Here…CaNsEr blues.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I just spoke to my mother on the phone. Although she was disappointed she couldn’t donate a second pint of blood for her surgery she still sounded upbeat. I just got an email from her nurse talking about her chemotherapy. Life just is not fair. My mom worked hard the minute she set foot in this country and this is how she’s rewarded. It makes me angry to watch people drink and drug their lives away,etc.etc. I’d never wish cancer on anyone. I’m going out to the gym and pump some iron and take a LOOOOONG sauna. Peace out!

Thick in the Legs and that’s OK

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I just posted a pic of myself in the garden. Holy crap I have some big legs *LOL* Totally genetic though. My father had big Sicilian peasant thighs and my mother has big calves. All the walking up the hill to the garden, bike riding and so on…My husband likes me that way so I’m not complaining. I’m just glad to have a smile on my face before my mother’s surgery and chemo.

Four Mile Walk for Food

Monday, May 25th, 2009

My sister-in-law made the most awesome spice cake so I had a piece…a small piece. I also wanted a dozen fresh eggs for raw egg yolk shakes and egg white omlets. Today is blazing heat and I walked to the farm two miles away (up and down hills). Well he wasn’t there. Maybe went to his camp or something for Memorial Day. Anyway, it was a great walk and a total of four miles. Now I’m inside having a blueberry smoothie. Later when it’s not so hot I’ll go outside and lift some weights.

My Unique Approach to Bodybuilding and Fitness

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Last night I saw my arms in the mirror relaxed. A nice sideeffect of happy self esteem and confidence is checking myself out in the mirror. Anyhoo, I have definition in my arms without flexing! Woo hoo! Watering the garden first thing in the ‘morning’ (actually 11:30 heehee!) before I eat gets me warmed up for the day. Next thing is to just jump on the total gym and do a workout before I eat. My appetite never seems to recover if I workout first thing in the morning. Maybe the raw egg yolks will cure that. I seem to want to gorge on EVERYTHING when I workout before I eat. I don’t think my body is cut out for that. When I go to the gym, I lift weights first before cardio which is almost as good as morning cardio.
Other good news: no suspicious lumps in my boobs…it’s the same two ladies hanging out and they’ve not grown in size. So far so good. I measured a mole on my leg and in my heart I know it’s nothing. I think my mother’s experience and also being a nurse makes me a little paranoid *LOL* When I go outside in the garden, I feel happy and free and don’t think about things like cancer and the residents getting sick.

lawn clippings, egg protein and redneck living

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I get very homesick for Long Island but the minute I get there, I start whining about the traffic and people *LOL* These days it’s been so GORGEOUS outside, I’ve been getting my exercise by gardening, working out on the total gym and weight set and riding my bicycle. Today I added three raw egg yolks to my green smoothie. I can’t wait to get my own chickens because that way I KNOW where the egg comes from. Straight from my pet chicken’s butt :D Oh yeah I drink it out of a mason jar so take that city folk! LOLOLOL
I’ve been working my A$$ off prepping to go help my mother in June. MERCIFULLY, my husband got work. I feel very sorry for the man of the home these days. Many men are getting laid off and have little mouths to feed. I am just blessed to be able to work and plant a garden.  Come June when I must watch my mother go through the surgical prep area doors for her second cancer surgery, I know I’ll be a physically stronger person. It’s the mental state I must get ready.

PS… I would not use cheapo factory farm eggs raw. The egg yolk is the best part of the egg and should be eaten raw. The white ought to be cooked but if you want to eat it Rocky Balboa style then by all means hook up with an organic free range chicken coop. Hens make great pets. So excited about my tiny bodybuilding partners!

Lawn Clippings and Light Eating

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

My husband called my salad lawn clippings. Technically it was true. Dandelions run amok in our backyard so I picked a bunch of greens, flowers, etc. and shredded some carrots and had a huge plate of salad for dinner. Later I had a cup of tea and some Kashi granola. Tomorrow I get paid and begin my raw organic eggyolk and cooked eggwhite experiment.

I worked out in my backyard today, bicep curls with a 20lb barbell and two 20lb dumbbells. I did tricep curls and ran around with my dog. I was enjoying the outdoors so much I didn’t care to go to the gym. My husband and I were gardening together and it’s wonderful to do together. My husband doesn’t workout so anytime he gets moving is good :-)

I feel so much better compared to yesterday. Tomorrow morning I’m taking my dog for a prebreakfast walk and run. I’ll go to the gym in the afternoon and do some back training and cardio and SAUNA yeah woo hoo!

Sunday Morning Blahhhhh….

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

I wish my husband only knew how his snoring impacts my quality of sleep. Oh the burdens! A nice cup of tea will help me a long to setting me straight LOL! Anyway, friday night had the most awesome workout I just had to write it down.

Abs

planks, side planks

standing russian twists with an olympic barbell

stomach vacuums

I like the plank because it’s yoga and these exercises are the only ones I can do without upsetting my stomach. I can do some ab ripper X but it’s at my own peril.

50 minutes on the treadmill

Saturday I took a day off from the gym. I worked as a nurse aide. I guess I should have brought more food because I was ravenous when I got home. No apples, no sammiches! or smoothies to help me. I forgot how busy and rocking I was as a nurse aide before I got my LPN. The late night wasn’t too much of a disaster. I ended up eating lots of carrots wraped in half a burrito shell a handful of cereal and a cup of decaf coffee. Not terrible. I stayed up late rolling my hair so that’s how I justified eating late :D

Weight Loss Goals

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I’m now under 160 pounds. I had the original goal of 150 by the time I go to see my mom in NY. Well I decided that losing 9 pounds is unrealistic. I prefer pumping iron and having muscle to dropping weight fast. I am going for the goal of 155 which is entirely attainable.

I feel great. The finances might be tight but I still feel good! I spent seven dollars on fruits and greens that will make two gallons of green smoothies that are very filling and nutritious. My time in NYC will be spent riding my bicycle from the train station to the cancer center on the Upper East Side and down to the Village to Whole Earth Bakery for the occasional splurge. I expect to drop ten pounds at the end of my stay in New York City. Between eating mostly rawfoods and riding all over the place, I’m going to be leaning out sooner that I thought! A lean, mean canSer fighting machine!

Fifty Pound Greatness

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I spent the day outside in the garden. I military pressed fifty pounds on a barbell for ten reps. It felt great. I also did a quickie workout in between plantings on my total gym. Glad I did because I didn’t feel like driving a mile and a half to the gym in the evening. I try to ride my bicycle to any destination within a two mile radius.

Thankfully I made the initial investment in my garden. I think summer is going to be a little lean (again) and I’ll be doing a lot of freezing and canning of the harvest. Plus there are lots of local foks who keep chickens. If I could only have a dairy goat, my reasons for shopping at Walmart would be completely eliminated. My most favorite after workout ‘meal’ is a green smoothie with greens and dandelion picked from my backyard. These days I’ve not been snacking much and it shows.

Just seeing where all this is going. I’m trying to take control or rather be a good stewardess of the body that God gave me. My husband is so wonderful. He’s building geodesic domes for the garden and A RUSSIAN SAUNA HUT!!!! WOO HOO!!!!! FInally something to do in the wintertime in this fleaspeck town hehehehehehe. He knows that I get a little lonely for the insanity that is Long Island. When I actually go home to visit he laughs as I start whining about the traffic, the overpopulation,etc.etc. It’s like wishing for sun in the winter LOL!

A Statement about Blog Pictures

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Someone wrote me note asking why I don’t post update photos to evaluate my progress. I’m not doing this for the sake of looking good in photos or competing. Like I said to him, I’ll post whatever I want. I know that a lot of women tend to take off the clothes when the weight comes off which is fine. That’s their path. I totally understand the reasons behind it but I’m lifting weights and losing weight for my health. I’ve tried to look my best before to attract guys and still got called a fat girl! Another female poster here on BB.com was called FAT by someone in her picture album. Hey if you want to be a schmoe then go look at some net porn and leave us heavy t bumpa gals alone!
