I saw a pic of myself when I was 23 and I look the exact same now. I’ve not aged at all. Okay one thing that bothers me is the weird crepitude I got going on my neck from looking down at the MAR at work. Anyway, I’ve been inspired by one person on the Biggest Loser (I believe it’s fixed btw!) and that’s Shay. Also, my husband wants to work out now something i’ve been praying on FOR THREE YEARS. Sometimes I used to resent going to the gym because some of the guys kinda look the way my hubby would look like minus about 100lbs. Appearance doesn’t matter as much to me as being healthy because of the cancer history.
Forty days of hardcore working out for the Merry Christmas holidays and good eating but lots of hardcore working out and yoga to balance. I already had a pretty good wake up morning thing today later the dog and I are going for a long walk and then I’ll hit the gym later for a sauna. I want to look the same way I do today at FORTY when my husband says I can get ass antlers and ride a HOG to Sturgis.

Just for today…
I won’t worry about money and paying bills because there was once a man or woman on their way to work in the Towers with money on their minds.
I won’t pester or fight with my husband because on the morning of 9-11, a husban and wife had a fight and he left angry and she is left with a lifetime of regret.
I won’t worry about what I’m eating or drinking because I’m alive to eat and drink.
I won’t ask God for more stuff because I should be thankful for the breathe in my lungs in the first place.
I WILL live life as if life was full of infinite possibilities (it is!).
I WILL affirm the sanctity of life in everyone (because someone somewhere didn’t give the folks in the WTC and the airplanes that honor).
I WILL love and appreciate my family esp. my husband
I WILL love myself and take care of the body that I have in honor of the deceased heroes and heroines of 9-11.

I’ve not been hitting the gym these days because my husband and I just bought a house. Yesterday I had my first workout in the house as it was too late to go to the gym before work. Upstairs I have my own exercise/peace and serenity room with my exercise bike, yoga mat, kettlebells and total gym. The house is a mile and a half away from the gym too. Awesome.

My husband’s hands are all over me lately. He’s saying wow you look really taut and lean, especially around the hips area. That’s bike riding is doing something special. It sure is nice to be affirmed by one’s lifemate. Every morning before breakfast, I’ve been getting on the exercise bike and riding for at least half an hour while sipping black coffee. I also bought a 20# kettlebell from Walmart. I LOVE it. I’m off to do some yard work before work. Working a doubleshift tomorrow because we’re working on buying a house.

Okay so my husband reminded me of an old goal (that’s on my bodyspace page) of running the Super Kwik Marathon. So it’s game on and my husband promised to be my support crew at the race with adult beverages and organic food. Whatta guy. Now I have to peel off some pounds…must.get.rid.of.bread.now.

So okay…it wasn’t that long. It was five and a half miles one way downhill and back up. Eleven felt like 100 in the heat. I wanted to pedal off some frustration about work and life in general. Some days I feel so unworthy to be a nurse and take care of people’s elderly parents. Dinner was three farm eggs and garden zucchini NOM NOM NOM.

Well I decided to ride my bicycle to the gym. Someone yelled at me to get on the f*cking sidewalk. I was more than mildly irritated since I go out of my way to be seen wearing a helmet, flashing light and yellow vest. I ride at the side of the road and leave lots of room for anyone to pass. It was kinda dispiriting and I sat in front of the gym for a while feeling sorry for myself and licking my wounds. Anyway, I did go and workout after all. I worked back and biceps and did fifteen minutes on the treadmill after the weight portion. Not a lot of cardio but that’s okay. Every morning I get on my exercise bike and ride for at least thirty minutes while watching the Tour de France. Today I did 42 minutes! Nice. The natural exercise drugs are kicking in and I feel totally relaxed. Ready for a great shift pushing the giant pillbox and hanging out with the old ladies!

I am finally back in the gym. Just back home the day before yesterday after a whole month in NY. My mother sounded great on the phone this morning. She’s cancer free for now and the doctor says she probably won’t need more chemo. OMG I didn’t realise ho much I missed the gym…MY BODY missed the gym till I went downstairs and saw the iron, saw the treadmills, etc. Really I wanted to get on my knees and thank God. I wanted to get a small workout in between running work related errands. Fifteen minutes on the elliptical was so refreshing!

My mother is back in the hospital. She had a little setback called ‘neutropenia’ and extreme sensitivity to chemo. Yeah Sunday really sucked a$$ and super depressing. However, I’ve been bike riding around Manhattan instead of paying for the subway and it’s a great stress reliever and mind clearer. If cycling through rush hour traffic doesn’t clear the mind and help one focus I don’t know what will!!
